It's finally been announced in the media, so to put it here: my father has just been announced as the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory.
Claims that it was accompanied by widespread rioting and the occupation of the Supreme Court by an enthusiastic love-in have been at least partially exaggerated.

OK, so I took this certification exam, for work, back in November. It was a *really* hard exam--a lot of questions where there was more than one right answer, and you had to pick not just a correct answer, but the BEST correct answer. I had NO idea how I"d done, in the end. The envelope just came in the mail today--
I PASSED!!
Not only that, I got a 91%, and all you needed was a 70% to pass! Yeeeeeeeehaw!!!!!

Anyone got some of those job vibes just lying around doing nothing? After a considerable dry spell, I just had an interview that went really well, but now I have to get through a second round of interviews after the holidays. It's not my ideal job, largely because it's in Milwaukee rather than Chicago, but it would be a good job that I can do well, in what seems to be an office or really nice people. Also, they made me give them a salary ballpark, and said they didn't see a problem with what I came up with - I basically told them what I had been making, and that my prior job was non-exempt, without saying exactly how much overtime I worked (lots). I was kind of worried about this, because DC and Milwaukee market rates are pretty far apart, and I didn't want to price myself out of the market or take too much of a cut. So I'm really hoping this comes through.
Okay. I'm off. I'll be out of town through the 2nd, back online on a regular basis on the 3rd. Anybody needs me, e-mail me. Or poke shrift, and she'll e-mail me. (Considers the fact that she just invited the entire board to poke shrift. Runs away before shrift gets back.)

My nephew, Dominic, was born on Dec 24th. 7 lbs, 7 oz, about 18 days early. (He just decided he was done cooking, I guess.)
I'd arrived about 10 hours earlier, meeting SIL for the first time.
My little brother is schmoopy happy. So are we.
