Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Well, Firm B has offered me a severance and Firm C can use me part time. Won't this be fun?

sighhhhh

God I hate these people.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

I'm an aunt again!

My nephew Hayden(middle name not yet chosen) was born this morning at 7:15. Mother and child are well, as are father and older brother.

Somervillistas or any other Greater Boston area type people:

My synchronized swimming team (Cambridge Synchro) is having their annual show this weekend.

There are 30 girls on the team ranging from 8-18.

If you are interested in synchro, want to point and laugh but still support a local team, or have any little girls in your life that might be interested it is a good chance to check it out!

It will be at the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, in the War Memorial Pool, at 459 Broadway, Cambridge, MA. Saturday June 4th from 7-8:30pm, Sunday June 5th from 2-3:30pm. Bake sale and raffle etc. during the intermission.

It will also be a good spectacle for another reason - come watch me waddle around the pool since I am 8 1/2 months pregnant! Any spare don't-go-into-labor-till-the-show-is-over-ma would be greatly appreciated! I am the head coach, and I don't think the assistant coach would be too thrilled to do it on her own.

I lurk in Bitches, so if you have any questions you can either email me or post over there...

Trust my rage

I've been debating whether I should just post this in Bitches, but here is the summary of my news:

1. Joe is supposed to be home from Iraq for two weeks. Right now, he is supposed to be leaving on June 12th, although yesterday it was the 10th and last week, it was the 8th. He's supposed to be on a direct flight, which is really great for him and means he will arrive on the 12th or 13th.

2. My due date is on June 15th. My midwife set June 21st today as my induction date. Although I really don't want to be induced, I'm happy that a date is set. She's doing me a favor by scheduling it on the early side, but she and the rest of her practice have been very supportive of doing what we can to make sure Peaberry arrives while Joe is here.

3. I'd appreciate any easy labor~ma laying around, although I'm being rather picky in that I really want this baby to come on her own, but only once Joe arrives (i.e. between June 13th and 20th). Also, safe travel~ma for Joe would be much appreciated.

4. Finally, my mom arrived last week and is taking great care of me. I spend all my time studying for the bar and she has been doing everything else, which has been very nice. If I haven't been too greedy, I could also use focussed study~ma in preparation for the bar exam next month.

Okay, have I asked for enough????

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

So, umm...

Wow, guys. You rock with the baby gifts.

I'm at the moment blown away by Buffista generosity and finally well enough to thank you for the package that came today, signed by many of you for the three of us. It couldn't have come at a better time, as I spent today the most miserably ill I've been in ages (note: I'd rather be in unmedicated transition labor than to feel like I did for most of today--it was that bad), and I really needed cheering.

Lillian and Paul thank you, too.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

I'm going black until Wednesday. I'm off visiting my parents and won't have internet access.

Hey. New board.

I just turned in my last assignment for Caltech.

I'm SO done.

information libertarian

I am happy to report that Stephanie gave birth to Elizabeth Lindsey, to be called Ellie, at 5:29 pm today. She weighs 6 lbs. 9 oz., and mother and baby are both very well. They didn't leave for the hospital until 3 pm! Great work, Stephanie, and welcome Ellie!

(edited - twice - because I can't type when I'm excited!)

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Welcome Ellie!

A whole heap of Job-ma urgently sought. Tomorrow looks set to be one hell of a day, workwise, and it's entirely possible that I might find myself unemployed at the end of it, either from having been sacked or walked out. Please send your good will my way, lovely people.
