Thrive to spite them

I've moved into my new place. Haven't had internet access all weekend. Hopefully will get that tonight.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I haven't been able to say much about this because its a sensitive offices situation, blah de blah.

The law firm I've been working for for over a year recently split into two entities. Despite initial assurances otherwise, its been incredibly acrimonious. The side I've been working for has been demanding more of my time which is something I really can't do. I spoke with the office manager of the other firm (we're all still sharing space -- the tension has been just incredible) and told her "I was hired by Firm A under certain terms. Now that its split into Firm B and Firm C. Firm B can no longer use me as I was hired. If Firm C can we should be able to switch me over with as little disruption to my life as possible."

Well, today my long over due (next week, next week, next week...) year review happened, I said this, I was promptly fired. "I'd really rather this be amicable -- I can give you two weeks notice, train my successor, and be able to answer questions for my successor even afterwards if I'm right over there on the other side of the office." "I'm sure you would. Your job is over. Get out of my office."

It wasn't unforseeable. I have an "interview" with Firm C tonight or tomorrow (they've implied they're fine with the switch and I know they're short staffed). I will likely have no disruption in my insurance or vacation time and in the next day or two I'll likely be back in the same office space at a different desk and avoiding people in the corridors. Nevertheless, having someone stand over my desk while I get my stuff, ludicriously turning in a building ID which will be replaced by the end of the week, and being escorted to the door is less than delighful.

Any delightful~ma that can be spared would be welcomed.

My hopefully-soon-to-be-new-office-manager left me a message that she has a meeting going long and will call me tonight.

My incredibly-recently-ex-boss left me a message to give her a call.

This is insane. This is what I get for getting off the interbunny and checking my messages.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

I have taken a job at a wonderful private Jewish high school in LA. I have also put a deposit on a cute little guest house in Burbank that I will hopefully be renting. I will be moving some time this summer--probably toward the end of July. We are not selling the CT house, so I'll be bicoastal girl for a bit until everything gets worked out. There's more to this story, but that's all I can say right now. Likely to be a tough month or two, so thanks to everyone for your support.

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

It's done:

Today, I informed my roommate of my intent to move in with my girlfriend by the end of the month. He's going to start looking for a new roommate, and we're going to start making space for my stuff and moving it over. Those that have previously had an address and phone number for me will be informed in email of my new address and phone number.

Wish me smooth transition ~ma, and, if possible, throw in some job ~ma as well, as my previous gig is now ended and I need something else new soon.

I'm an aunt again!
