Socks are a running theme throughout the series. They are used as symbols of freedom, redemption and love.

On Saturday night, my nineteen-year-old youngest sister deliberately overdosed, taking all of her medications. It looks like she hasn't caused any physical damage, but that leaves plenty to worry about. The family is all very concerned upset and scared. I'd appreciate some vibes if you've got 'em to spare.

That's some powerful health~ma, folks. I just heard from my dad. The doctors will be doing some surgery and Mom will experience the joys of chemo. But they're giving her a 70% chance of removing most of the cancer and pushing the rest into remission. Thank you all for your good thoughts.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Here's a link for everyone who wants to hear me and juliana doing our reading in Seattle for Famous Flower of Serving Men in Seattle last year

move out and draw fire

Hi folks - the no-internet saga continues (now the embassy has made its policy that employees can't get internet at home because the embassy owns the phone line and doesn't want to get involved in contracts with ISPs...never mind that we-the-employees would be paying the contract, and have to pay in advance...). This is so stupid even the ambassador is getting involved to try to help resolve things.

Anyway, until it either gets resolved or we leave for a more rational embassy, in, say, Iraq, I'll be battleship gray. In the meantime, here are a few pictures of one-month-old Mal [link]
