This thread is for Buffista quotage. Posts that are profound, witty, or otherwise deserving of immortality go here. This is also Shrift's source for the BRQG, so be aware that if your words end up here, they'll also end up there. 'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

ita:

It was pretty well understood what shade of people my mother's family was to marry. To an outsider? All a bunch of poor black people. From inside, a hotbed of shadist politics.

It's more than just being poor.

That having been said, my mother's family was that light because of consensual intermingling. It's only reasonably recently that America's seeing that -- much of the white blood in today's black American was forced there.

The re-enactment thing weirds me out like hearing about plays where the actors go out into the audience weirds me out. Fourth wall people! It's there for a reason. To give me peace.

Calli in Bitches:

I really don't think fish fondue exists, and if so, please don't anyone tell me.

Fish? Fondon't.

Joss in Firefly...

Wait a minute, Gus! I just thanked Allyson for posting the message and then you went and did it! Now I have to thank a whole nother person? You think I got time to be thanking people all day? I mean, I'm a very important writer type! I have certain DEMANDS on my time but do you care, no, you just trundle about doing favors and making people thank you. Maybe it's time you thought about somebody else for a change, huh pal? Thanks -- for nothin'! -- except posting that message like I asked! Pal! Sheesh!

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Allyson, in the Firefly thread:

It's like, sometimes, when the whole world seems turned upside-down, and my faith in humanity has run into negative digits, and the path is filled with brambles, and all seems hopeless, i turn to face the mirror and ask, "What Would Buffy Do?"

And then I kick the crap out of someone and feed them their own spleen and fuck a really cute boy who is no damn good for me, everything becomes right with the world.

Matt the Bruins Fan:

What I know of my genetic heritage is all English, Scottish, and Irish (presumably Black Irish), but a few years ago when I had a deep tan I was rejected for a date by someone who refused to go out with Hispanics on general principle. I started to argue the point before realizing that I wasn't terribly keen on dating a bigot whether the bigotry was misplaced or not.

Swouncing

Natter:

tommyrot: My cat once killed a silverfish and then meowed at me to say, "fix it!" My cat apparently thinks I have the power to bring insects back to life. Hey, I can turn lights on and off, and open doors that my cat can't, so in his mind these things are probably equally miraculous as raising the dead.

Rio: What's Young Americans?

Hil: Summer show on the WB a few years ago. Took place in a boys boarding school, where one of the boys was actually a girl, two of the boys were in love with the same girl, there was something about how that girl might actually be the half-sister of one of them, they spent lots of time shirtless for no reason whatsoever, would occaisionally all strip and jump into the lake in slow motion, and drank lots of Coca-Cola(TM).

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

meara in Bitches:

For Burrell:

If I had a little baby Frannie, I would

kiss her little toeses

eat the little toeses

marvel at the tiny fingernails

make her hold onto my finger so I could marvel at how small her fist is

marvel at how big she's gotten

make zerberts on her tummy

ask her mommy if she's old enough to be tossed (not letting go!) in the air to make her squeal

watch her while she's sleeping

HAND HER BACK TO MOMMY WHEN I"M DONE
