This thread is for Buffista quotage. Posts that are profound, witty, or otherwise deserving of immortality go here. This is also Shrift's source for the BRQG, so be aware that if your words end up here, they'll also end up there. Finally, please note which thread spawned the quotage and please white-out anything that might be spoilery to Un-Americans.
Am-Chau, in Natter, on our sacred duties:
To the God of Sloth you must sacrifice productivity, finishing things, meeting deadlines, and getting things done.
The proper aspect for sacrifice is the couch, preferably lying down; the proper time is all day when you should be doing something else. Proper conduct of slothfulness also includes the sacred duties of chatting on the internet, looking for gay vampire snuff porn, and distoring pictures of Sam Gamgee until he looks like a demented vampire on snuff, about to engage in a pornographic act.
Thus sayeth the first and only lesson of Sloth, which nobody could be bothered to finish.
'sacred' not 'scared' I'm thinking. As long as you're editing, that is.
You think correctly, Theo. I'm too lazy to type properly!
And my sloth is such that it took me another hour to go back and edit.
From Firefly:
Allyson: Fortunately, sponsors don't so much like crazy people.
Emily: As a demographic, they're largely useful only to the aluminum industry.
Jilli, exemplifyiing Jilliness in Natter:
I did the Bunny Hop at the bowling alley last Friday, now that I think about it. They were playing "Beautiful People" by Marilyn Manson, which HAS to be Bunny Hopped to.
(If my wacky pseudo-big brother has a bad week, he takes me bowling. He claims the sight of me in floofy knee-length petticoats, stripey tights, and velvet dresses attempting to bowl will trump any depression. I think he's mocking me, but hey! Strong drinks, Chinese food delivered to our lanes, and sparkly pink bowling balls are always fun.)
erikaj in Natter:
I love goths, because I look so positive standing next to one. And they never say "Smile! It can't be that bad!"
John H and ita showing once again why they're smarter than most people over in Building a Better Thread
John H
Not to get all Perl about it, but it doesn't have the pure poetry of:
@newarray = grep {length($_)} @oldarray;
does it?
Ita
Even ee might think your poetry a little opaque.
John H
I say "ee", you say "OO", let's call the whole thing off.
And of course like all Perl addicts I've realised I was way wordy above, goddamnit I'm Samuel Taylor Coleridge compared to the Japanese simplicity of this:
@newarray = grep {/./} @oldarray;
Rob's response to the above conversation:
I distinctly recall John promising to use his powers only for good. This is not for good.
