Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I downloaded it, but nothing about the promo materials has me interested in taking that next step.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

I just saw it. Wah. I should have pretended it ended at season three.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

A guy in his 30s from the UK is working for a U.S. company. One of the women at this company wants to know if the following behavior would tolerated in the UK:

One guy is about mid-30s, runs around calling women "dear", asking for them for kisses and hugs, such as:

Marketing Manager: _x_, have you had a chance to look at this report?
_x_ from UK: Not at all my lovely girl and I won't do so until I get a kiss.

Recently, marketing and sales managers were conversing in a hallway about the latest reports,

"Good morning my lovelies. How about a kiss?" (leans in, pointing at cheek, apparently hoping that they pull him into their arms.)

I told her that, regardless of UK customs, HR should have a conversation with him about U.S. sexual harassment law, since he is not currently in the UK.

I bop to Wittgenstein. -- Nutty

Would it be tolerated in the UK? Maybe, depends on the power the man has, how much the women involved need their jobs, stuff like that. However, I know that sort of thing wouldn't be tolerated by other women in my non-work social circle, and I wouldn't expect it to be acceptable at work.

Would it be regarded as sexual harassment in the UK? Yes, I think so, and we have laws about that sort of thing. In fact, I'm in the UK and I'm regarding it as sexual harassment right now!

No.

Perhaps he's one of those Brits who think that all Americans love the British and their little eccentricities and thinks he can get away with this sort of behaviour in the States. I very much doubt he could get away with it on the other side of the pond. Either way, he's insensitive and stupid.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Echo that. Not the UK, but in Israel, that would be sexual harassment as well.

I agree that the answer is no. There are very clear laws on sexual harassment here. And, yes, the main point is that it's sexual harassment where he's working now.

Ann, that's a ferret.

I'm an American who stands second to nobody in his enjoyment of the British and "their little eccentricities" (Anfield Cat Rules!). My description of that guy would start with "appalling" and go on from there.

Thanks all. She guessed this, but wanted ammunition against the "eccentric Brit" defense before she went to HR. Not, as everyone has said, that it should make a difference, but it is good to KNOW that it is bullshit. So again, thanks.
