Lurching from one disaster to the next.

The stations over here have finally learnt their lesson about waiting too long to screen popular US shows. Hence getting Castle so quickly. We are getting Lie To Me but they're falling down on Eureka. Again I agree that those two depict good f/d relationships but they're not as good as Rick and Alexis.

eta: though it should be noted that the stations still haven't learnt their lesson about fucking up the shows by going to commercials too early. A character could be mid-sentence and they suddenly cut to a commercial break.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

they're falling down on Eureka

Well, they're falling down on Eureka here too. We haven't seen anything since last September, and the break after this next mini-season looks to be epic, since shooting isn't scheduled to resume until next MARCH. Not sure what the thinking is there.

Do they air more ads more often? It's glaring how BBC America, for instance, chops into a show with no ads to do their duty, and somewhat less so with syndicated shows on other stations (which I don't understand, since there are ad breaks in the shows already--why not just run more in the allocated spaces?).

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I do want to get Jordan and Castle's daughter together and see what they'd come up with.

I love Susan Sullivan. She's so good, you don't notice how perfect she is. She was wonderful as Greg's mom on Dharma and Greg, she's been fabulous in every guest spot I've seen her in. And she was wonderful as Bruce Banner's love interest in The Hulk, years ago. She, Fillion, and the daughter actor really do have a great family dynamic.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Shir: sorry but--to quote from Castle--I'd rather have honey poured on my eyeballs and one hundred fire ants dropped on my head, than watch Eurovision.

You really do have to learn to appreciate true trash.

So, the Eurovision. Usually, I don't watch. But last night, I was bored, and there was nothing to see on tv. Or so I thought. The choreography! The costumes! The really awful sounds! Boy, for some, I didn't even know WHERE to begin.

Remember the choreographer from Bring It On? Greece, apparently, did. [link] And then came Serbia [link] and it was disturbing. Only then, came Ukraine. Dear God. [link] Norway had it's own problems, but it was a nice break for my wide-open-with-horror-eyes [link] And then, of course, Moldova. What can I say? I love learning about foreign cultures. Every foreign culture, apparently, firmly believes in very short skirts. [link]

But nothing was as scary and disturbing as The Netherlands. [link]

Now, with better note, I have to praise Ireland: [link] and my favorite was Cyprus: [link]

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

A character could be mid-sentence and they suddenly cut to a commercial break.

You have howler monkeys running your networks too? Guess I shouldn't be surprised.

She, Fillion, and the daughter actor really do have a great family dynamic.

I totally agree. The mother adds an element that isn't present in Eureka or Lie to Me. The character could have so easily been an annoyance, but they've balanced it just right. Alexis is definitely the most level-headed of the three, but not to an obnoxious degree, and sometimes she's just a teenager rather than the family anchor.

information libertarian

Oh, Shir. Thank you. I think Ukraine did it for me, because of my "what is that, a tail? Oh my god, he's carrying a woman upside down on his back!" Moldova, too. I am sure that is a fine traditional song when not being danced to in a neon-yellow micro-mini.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

I know, flea. On some moments, I had tears in my eyes, and I didn't know if it's from laughter or sheer horror.

God, I love the Eurovision. I learn so much about my boundaries.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

So I'm cleaning out the poster closet at work and I come across "The Accidental Husband". It's been in there for ages and I can't remember when it's supposed to come out so I look it up and there's European release dates but none for the US. I dig a little deeper and find out the production company went bankrupt. It's been shelved. Uma Thurman! Jeffrey Dean Morgan! Colin Firth! Did any of you guys get to see it? Was it any good?

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Eurovision, famous last words:

Holy fuck, Germany. I did not expect a Dita Von Teese cameo (towards the 2:50 and so on, and NSFW).

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Aw, I'm sorry I missed Eurovision. Although I understand Terry Wogan's no longer doing the voiceover bit in the UK, and Eurovision without old Tel snarking madly at everyone would be a shock to the system. And I understand they've altered the voting process to make it fair? With phone-in votes? So that possibly it won't just be people voting for their next door neighbours?
