Sir? I think you have a problem with your brain being missing.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

A question for the Euroistas- I'm going to Europe next month, and keep reading things about how handy a ISE card is. Do you think savings (especially if we won't be doing much in the way of hotels or nice restaurants) would be worth the 25 bucks?

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

I gather from the fact that you are not rolling in spare time that he caved?

Nope. The status of my pay is still unknown.

Fun fun fun.

However, it's parents' meetings on Friday and reports are due in on Sunday. I've written my reports and had them checked (hard copy) for typos etc by senior management, who has pronounced them Very Good Indeed. And Evil Boss has congratulated me on my goodness. But the reports? Are not on his system. No no. They live here on my laptop. Not sure whether he's fully taken that on board yet. I went to see him yesterday to find out where we stand and he wouldn't be pinned down still, but he did his damnedest to get me to agree to come back next year for a substantially higher salary rather than going to the other place. He was very decent about it all, actually - because he was trying hard to get me to come back to work for him. When I explain that no, my decision is final...well, it's going to perhaps get messy. Because I'm not giving in my reports until I've got in writing what his intentions are towards my salary - and if it's a matter of docking me two weeks' pay, fair enough, I'll suck it up. But if he's planning on giving me one month total, instead of the three I'm due? Parents meetings and reports SO not going to happen.

Art Crawl!!!

I saw this on Wizard News:

WESTERN MINI-SERIES WITH SEAN ASTIN TO AIR ON BBC2
BBC Two has secured the rights to the Steven Spielberg mini-series "Into the West" starring Lord of the Rings actor Sean Astin. The six-part series spans 70 years of US history from 1825 and tells the story of the opening of the American West. (UK Edition)

Hopefully Sean Astin really has a big role in this -- I don't know. I had no idea he was in it. (The first hour of the series has Alan Tudyk in it -- in a role that was drastically reduced from what it had started out to be.)

Trust my rage

Was that it for Alan Tudyk? I assumed he must be coming back since he was in the credits. I think he had maybe 3 scenes.

Art Crawl!!!

I've been told (over in the Firefly thread) that his part was cut drastically from what was originally written.

Lurching from one disaster to the next.

Any Aussies (lurking or otherwise) who haven't bought the Firefly boxset, get your cheque-book, or credit card ready; I've seen it will be selling for between $25 and $30 in a couple of weeks.

Also, for those of us who don't have pay-tv but have heard interesting things about both Deadwood and Dead Like Me, the first season of each come out on DVD next month.

Ann, that's a ferret.

A little bit early, but between time zone differences and me usually not being around on Saturdays (Eastern U.S. time):

Happy Early Birthday, Min!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Happy birthday, Min!

I miss you terribly. I hope you're well and your birthday is bountiful.

I can't even.

jimi of evil: can you tell me what shops will be selling Firefly at that price? I've passed the word onto an oz friend who is now curious.

(Can you say half a shiny toaster shall be yours? I knew you could.)

John:

However, I'm thinking pretty much any shop that would stock it will have it at that price. It appears to be a price reduction from Fox themselves, so tell your friend to check out Target, or BigW, or K-Mart, or JB Hi-Fi, etc., as well.

eta: I was also wildly wrong about the date. It appears to be available at the reduced price now.
