Congratulations to Jim & Penny, and to jimi & moonlit!
Also, while I´m here, I´ll wave to Fiona from much closer than usual. I´m having an excellent time here in your fair country. How are you feeling? Are you still on bedrest?

Hi Kate! Whereabouts are you waving from?
Yup, still on semi-bedrest. I'm feeling pretty good though. Every day that I don't start bleeding is a good day. Not doing anything in the home is surprisingly tough, though.

Not Kate, but she's in Berlin.
Yep, I´m staying with a friend in Berlin. We spent all day yesterday in Dresden, which was pretty cool. We spent a lot of time at the Zwinger, which has an excellent little art museum (with Raphael´s Sistine Madonna, you know, the one with the famous cherubs: [link] and beautiful courtyards and fountains and such. Then we drove to Moritzberg for dinner and walked around the grounds of the castle there. But we´ve been mostly just enjoying ourselves in Berlin.
I´m glad to hear that you´re doing all right, even if bedrest is actually kind of tough. You´re in my thoughts.
What is with Berlin lately? Nearly everyone I know has been there in the last few months, or is planning a trip. I'm feeling seriously unfashionable.
Berlin has been fantastic recently, there's a real buzz. All the post-unification projects are coming to fruition, so there's tons of new stuff to see and do, plus the districts are coalescing anew, that sort of thing. We had a blast the last couple of times we were there. Get out there if you can, Jars!
I agree!

Fiona, I had SUCH a strong urge to rearrange all the furniture (which wasn't totally random, as it's something we had to do to make room for Lily) when I was on bedrest. For some reason, not being able to do that was the worst part of it. I felt so useless and helpless. And I well recall the No Blood = Good Day feeling. (Which, by the end, had morphed into the, "No Pre-E Yet = Good Day.) Also, I got exceedingly stir-crazy and sick of every book I owned.
Hang in there. It's boring and rough, and I can't imagine how hard it would be with a kidlet in the house.
Thanks, Plei. We're doing OK, and I'm actually keeping quite busy, somehow. Also, we've got a routine going with the home help and everything, which is making stuff go a lot more smoothly.
OB/GYN appointment tomorrow morning, where hopefully we'll find out what the ol' placenta is doing.
You know, I'd say I'm wishing you placenta-ma, but it just sounds silly, so here's to a good OB appointment instead.
