You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

compared to Baltimore, DC was an airport concourse

But with better museums.

Lurching from one disaster to the next.

Australian officials are waxing euphoric over the apparently limitless budget Warner Bros. has given Superman Returns, which began production in the state of New South Wales last month. The state's treasurer, Dr. Andrew Refshauge, told the Australian Associated Press, "It's going to be one of the biggest film projects ever made in Australia -- bigger than the Matrix trilogy." He said that it will generate A$100 million (US$77 million) for the state's economy and create more than 10,000 jobs.

If I only had a brain...

Yeah, let's go with that. Canberra wound up where it was because neither Sydney nor Melbourne was willing to let the other be the nation's capital, so there may have been cursing involved.

This is true about Washington, DC. Maybe we've established how you create a city with no soul. See also: Brasilia.

Hmph. DC has plenty of soul, these days. Though no voting rights. t /defensive resident

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

This is true about Washington, DC.

Yep, there's more than one parallel. I suspect that's at least partly deliberate, such as the model of defining a separate territory for it (though the ACT gets Parliamentary representation).

Ann, that's a ferret.

DC has plenty of soul, these days.

Um, I think it's called go-go.

I'll try to stay away from your wheaties.

Serenity release date and folk on the rim.

The official Serenity site (account required to view threads) is having a Q&A with Joss, and asking for questions from the fans. I asked if there's anything those not in the USA/Canada can do to convince Universal to do limited releases on 30 September 2005 for the hard-core Firefly fans in other countries.

There's a thread for people to show support.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

A quick question for any UK-istas. My roomie is looking at teaching in England, and she is talking to a school in Aylesbury. Her contact tells her it is about an hour train ride from London, and she's trying to find any information she can about the area, if it's rural or suburban, whether there's a good point between there and London for her to find a flat, etc. She's googling and says it's like a black hole. Anyone know anything about it?

ETA: You can probably disregard. I just tried for myself and offhand, it looks like there's plenty. Maybe she was doing something wrong.
