"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

You've been warned about season 4, right Angus?

Lurching from one disaster to the next.

I'd just like to say that Carnivale keeps on getting better and better. Parts of the second night (hard to say what episode it was, since the ABC seem to be showing two a night) were a bit eh but then it got better as that night wore on and now I am absolutely loving every second of it. Can't wait for the second season to get made and for the 1st season DVDs to get a release over here. oh and I'm in love with moonlit

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Can't wait for the second season to get made

The second season has already begun airing over here, so it's available for illicit consumption if you're into that sort of thing.

If I only had a brain...

Hee! The London News cuts Prince Harry into quivering shreds. (What is the London News? A tabloid? A political sheet?)

Prince Harry is sensationally stupid. Seriously, the lad is practically retarded, so it’s appropriate to cut him some slack. It’s a small miracle every time he finds his mouth with his cigarette, so the fact that he would put on a Nazi armband and not think – at any point – that this might possibly be a really really wrong thing to do, is perfectly understandable.

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

No, it (it being the London News Review, btw) is a magazine which grew out of the (awesome) Friday Thing, which was a weekly email sent by a bunch of journos in London. It was the '00s version of Private Eye back when the Eye was acerbic, funny, antiestablishment and essential (ie 1965). I've yet to meet anyone who actually buys the LNR, but they're good people.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'd just like to say that Carnivale keeps on getting better and better.

We just watched eps 4 and 5 last night. Dark stuff. And damn, it all looks so good. Who knew dust storms could look that good?

I loved the first season of Carnivale, but I didn't feel that anything had really been achieved by the end of it. It was almost as if the entire season was the pilot. An astonishingly good pilot, yes, but I'd occassionally like something to actually happen.

Edited because it just occured to me to check when the new series was starting over here, and apparently it started last night. Arse. I may have to engage in some morally dubious downloading.

Always Anti-fascist!

I've only seen, like. one. And I was puzzled. Bad HBO viewer, bad. Would I like it? (And I'm trusting you to keep sideshow humor to a minimum, ok?)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Would I like it?

Depends on your tolerance for Twin Peaks. It's pretty effin' slow and atmospheric. On the plus side - plenty dark. Honestly though? I don't think you'd be into it. It's not as strongly written as the stuff you prefer.
