hey, nowt wrong with Dennis Waterman. Sure, he became a bit of a prat after the success of Minder but still: Minder. Not to mention The Sweeney ...and now, of course, New Tricks, which is terrific (he says, after seeing only one episode).
On a different note: BIG SURPRISE! eBroadcast.com.au doesn't list Tru Calling for next week.

I thought he had a strong Giles moment when he helped the female investigator appreciate the painting with fireworks. (I only caught bits of it, so I don't know character's names.) The gentle encouragement and aforementioned "glint in his eye".
My favourite non-Giles character remains the sleazy magician in Jonathan Creek.
