"...And this bread used to be square" had me on the floor.
Oh, Lord yes. And the awkward silence, with the queer guys taking the piss.

That was the only ep I never bothered finishing, even before I knew he was whoring. I like some sort of contact with the subject. He was just a prick.
The drink-mixing? pitiful. Even I could do better than that, and I don't drink anything but wine.
Well, yeah -- it was like he'd never seen a drink before.

Well, asking a beer-&-chips (or crisps, depending on your country) to mix martinis and mint juleps is a bit much. But even virtually non-drinking I know that a gin & tonic is not 2/3 gin.
Well, yeah, wrod, but you don't just slop from the bottle in the glass. Yuck.
Or that you don't serve an entire glass full of whiskey!
... a gin & tonic is not 2/3 gin.
It isn't?
...you don't serve an entire glass full of whiskey!
You don't?
bugger!

I had contact with the subject, because I identify with excessive frugality, so I sympathized with him getting picked apart. When Kyan kept insisting that he call his place a shithole, rather than a regular hole, I thought he was being mean.
I wonder if Jai read him for a free-stuff moocher. His line, "We're going to get something nice for your girlfriend... You're going to pay for it," was the most forceful statement I've heard out of him.
Edit: apparently he's a real estate speculator and comedian? [link]
Not looking forward to the switch-over to the Aussie version, though--don't think they'll be able to pull off the same sort of dynamic twice, but one can dream, I suppose.
Yeah, it could be lame. Although, I can totally see Mark "Bob Downe" Trevorrow doing a great job on it.
What everyone has been saying about it is true--they took notice of what the guy wanted, worked around his existing likes and needs etc
I loved that. He looked so great, and they were changes he could maintain without significantly changing his entire lifestyle. Most makeovers -- on Oprah or whatever -- make the subject look so uncomfortable, and you just know they won't sustain the new look.
How far ahead is America in Queer Eye eps? Going by TWOP forums, you're up to about episode 11 or 12 of Season 1 -- is that right?
