Bad strategising, if you ask me.
I think it was strategising for the sake of plot angst, not for the sake of Buffy being a bad strategist, if that hair bears splitting.
However, I don't think the text bears out the interpretation (ever) that Buffy values SO's lives less than the Scoobs.

Oh, I agree. But it still pissed me off.
When she saw that the school had become a serious threat for the students - one even blew up right in front of her - she didn't think to try to get the school evacuated or have Willow do a spell to protect students. She didn't know them, so she didn't care so much.
Well, the school has always been a serious threat for the students, so that didn't bother me. Anyway, I thought Principal Wood did cancel school in that episode? Or did that come later when the town emptied?
Anya was paired with Andrew. It would have made more sense, to me, if Wood and Giles had been split up and paired with weaker fighters. Bad strategising, if you ask me.
Damn, that hadn't occured to me. That is pretty annoying. Was the area they were guarding the least important? If Wood and Giles were placed at the most crucial point, I could fanwank that away more easily.
Also, since we are talking specifics now.....
Television set: $300
Video recorder: $200
Blank tape: $3
Packet of Freddo Frogs: $3
Drawing of Angel's face on Spike's punching bag...?
FUCKING. PRICELESS.
And Dawn was paired with Xander. They both should have been dead.
The pairings make narrative sense, if not logical sense. The authority figures who have betrayed that authority, the recently-evil outsiders, and the normal, non-superpowered, have a speech in common ones.
Edit:
But this one makes sense (and I haven't even read the fic).
It really does. Esp. after the BIG bags of crack I started smoking. Honest. (But I do think it makes sense, which it why I've written... err, rather a lot of it, and why I run a site for the pairing.)
Message from the UK to the USA.
It's all gone quiet over there! It's all gone quiet over there!
Quick, let's talk about New Yorkers while they can't respond!
But people south of NYC are around....
Well, you must have some dirt on the Yankees! Aside from the fact that the most powerful industrial nation in the history of civilisation forgot to feed the meter yesterday...
Well, you must have some dirt on the Yankees!
There's George Steinbrenner, to start with.* Not sure what he's been up to lately, but it has to be no good.
I could talk to some people about the latest Roger Clemens story.
- For the confused, the New York Yankees are a baseball team, very successful. Think baseball's answer to Manchester United. Steinbrenner is the owner of the team, and someone people love to hate. Clemens plays for the Yankees, and used to play for their rivals, the Boston Red Sox.
Heh, thanks for the clarification Fred! (But we all know who Steinbrenner is thanks to Seinfeld.)
Sorry for going overboard, Angus. I didn't know how much the rest of the world knows about American baseball.
BTW, following up on a conversation we had some time back -- Junior Senior is starting to get attention here. Would be nice to see some fun come back to pop music here.
