Just saw Sacrifice. 'Twas a delightful gay romp. And I do mean gay--I spent a significant portion of the episode wondering aloud at the television why Angel doesn't give over and just kiss Wesley already, because really? Him and his 'we must feel nothing!' parade of repression ain't fooling anyone.
I'm laughing at the
parade of repression
thing. I'm picturing a Fred Nile-sponsored alternative to the G&L Mardi Gras.
but Andrew's Faith backstory monologue/montage was SO GREAT!
Oh, it was, wasn't it? I'd say they should film it and show it every Christmas, but they have and I'm tempted to do just that.
Otherwise, I'm unsure about how I feel about the episode. Because I know how I feel about specific parts of it (namely the Faith/Spike scene. My. God. Watching that was very enlightening--I now fully understand why there's a sub-genre of erotic film where women just sit around completely clothed and smoke) but overall I'm a bit iffy on the over-the-top misogynistic priest and his wacky southern accent. Nathan Fillion was great, I thought, all disturbingly charismatic and whatnot, but the character seems terribly anvilicious. It makes everything so 'Look! This is about Empowerment! Of the Women! Please stand still while I get something heavy and hit you in the head, just so you don't forget it!' and I'm used to BtVS being a leetle more subtle than that.
I was spoiled for the whitefonted thing - I didn't know the context or which episode it was happening in, but I've been waiting for it for months. It was still a shock, but I wish I hadn't known it was coming. That's the only thing I was spoiled for so I'm good for the rest of the season, apart from one seemingly unavoidable casting spoiler.

That was priceless! I love Andrew. In an 'I want him to be my pet' kind of way. Okay, you twisted my arm... sometimes there's a smidgen of 'lusty wrong thoughts' love mixed in there too.
Nathan Fillion was great
Channel 7 have been screening the last season of Two Guys and a Girl at 2pm weekdays, so I just kept thinking: "Johnny! It's Johnny!" You know, in between the VCR brooding.
I'm used to BtVS being a leetle more subtle than that.
Mostly yes. But not always. Season 6 for example? The Magic=Drugs metaphor was like a baseball bat and an anvil in one. A banvill.
Just saw Sacrifice
Not sure how I feel about this ep. I enjoyed it but as with the last couple of eps I found it kind of boring. I liked creepy clicky demon guy. I was really creeped out when the little kid started speaking in Jasmine's voice. Not sure how I feel about ending another season with an inter-dimensional romp.

Bwah!!! "We're here! We're repressed! We're sensibly dressed!"
Oh, I was totally unspoiled for it, BTVS hasn't shocked me like that for ages. It was great.
Leigh, I guess maybe you're right, but it's just nice to have a really charismatic villain after, what, three seasons without one? (Evil Willow excepted.) Pity he's only around for a few eps.

Oh, yeah. Still, Andrew lust in no way compares to the wrongess of my..uh 'thoughts' on Caleb. It's residual Firefly love, that's what it is. Uh-huh.

Indeed. But I was thinking mostly about the empowerment thing. It's been a goal of the series since the beginning (as seen in the tired old blond-in-the-alley story which interviewers always bring up when they're talking to Joss), but it's been handled with great finesse--it's never been the Issue with a captial letter before.

Oh, yes. It was a relief, really, after the First's ineffectual crapitude over the past half-season. I would have liked it better if they had realised how much the incorporeal thing wasn't working in terms of dramatic tension earlier, and had Caleb been less of an afterthought.

Oh, I get it. Yep, you're right, it's usually more subtle, underlying all the other Issues they deal with but not offered up on a platter.

Maybe it is the Firefly factor, because I've never seen it and I wasn't attracted at all.
Aww. You people who haven't seen the rest of S4 AtS are SOOOOO CUTE!!!
Just saw Sacrifice. 'Twas a delightful gay romp.
The
thinking with his heart stuff
got the Wes/Angel crew going, that's for sure.
4 hours later and i'm still in a daze. Xander's eye. Xander's fucking eye!!
on the plus side, it'll make sighting on the bow easier, plus he can now say "arrgh, me hearties" and not look naff.
I'm glad this is the last season of Buffy. My heart couldn't take much more of this. Damn. Xander's fucking eye!!
Reverand Tightpants is a great villian.

Aren't they just precious?
