This, on the other hand, sounds pretty good.
Growing up, in my family, we called both chips. I distinctly remember my first trip to McDonald's trying to order chips, and the counter-person kept telling me we don't serve chips here. My friend's mom finally had to say, "She means fries."
My father has the interseting habit of refering to any American he likes as 'a crisp off the old block'. Not really relevent, but there you go.
