because cabbage patch? Why? This is one of those Confuse the UnAmericans things, isn't it?
I think it was named after the Cabbage Patch Kids dolls that were popular back when. Why? I don't know. It is the generic dance of mildly obnoxious celebration.
Oh Victor, my friends are going to strangle you for putting "Whoop! There it doth!" in my head. Luckily they're geek enough to enjoy it the first few times.
Now I'm all curious to see if Jim follows the Buffista path of Firefly love. "Ok. Oooh. Yay! WOO!"
Oh! Cabbage Patch Kids, I vaguely remember them, though I think I was a little too young to actually want one. Freaky chubby toys with a permanent smirk/grimace and bright hair?
10 more papers to go, to go. 10 more papers to gooooo.
Freaky chubby toys with a permanent smirk/grimace and bright hair?
Yep. The hair was made out of yarn until sometime in the late eighties when they started making some with regular doll hair. They hit really big in 1983, and it was one of those impossible-to-get toys because they weren't making nearly enough to keep up with the demand. My mother managed to pull some strings, I have no idea how, and bought two for my sister and me several months before almost any of our friends were able to get them. When she brought them home, they weren't even in the display boxes; they were still in the cardboard shipping boxes. I was almost three then, and I took mine everywhere with me, and suddenly all the "Oh, what an adorable baby!" comments to my mother switched to "Where did you get that doll?"
Ok good news first. Today's (November 21) Media section in The Australian has an article mentioning BtVSwith a picture of DarkMagic Willow.
The Frogurt is poisoned
It's illustrating an article "Industry Fights Rearguard Action as Culture Comes Under Attack"
How to stop the slide towards what one speaker depicted as a "Buffy/Raymond/CNN society" - that is one dominated by inane US sitcoms and ubiquitous news programs - emerged as a central concern at last week's Screen Producers Association of Australia conference in Melbourne.
This person was apparently an idiot Senator named Marise Payne who declared
"We have to be very alert, very cognisant of the challenges and those who oppose the view we take - those who want the world to be a Buffy/Raymond/CNN society.
Which I think we all agree would be pretty objectionable."
Everyone knows we should be striving for a Buffy/Angel/Firefly society.
Wrod! I'll strive for that!
Can someone tell me if there are any British MPs who stand for creating a Buffy/Angel(/Firefly, if you must- I've never seen it) society?
Buffy/Raymond/CNN? What weirdo slash is that?
Buffy/CNN- it's the latest trend in femslash. Raymond just turns it into this strange threesome thing though, and it's of the bad.
Buffy/CNN- it's the latest trend in femslash.
Sorry, just flashed on Buffy/Connie Chung. Make it stop! Make it stop!
