I did actually have a reason for coming in here, before the shiny discussion distracted me. So, I just wanted to say a big fat thanks to all the lovely people who emailed, messaged, and posted their good wishes for my injured friends, it was a great comfort to me. The Buffistas are the best friends ever! *huggy smooches* Trin and My Boy are doing much better, and have both been released from hospital. Michael has to return often for outpatient treatment, but at the moment is just so blissed out to be home that he's handling it all well. Yay healing!
Back to the Saturday evening alcohol, away!
That's great news, Min!
I have had difficulty understanding SMG at times, but that's just because she sometimes talks so quickly! Also don't get some of the Americanisms. One sentence of which I could only understand the first two words until I read the transcript was "It's like cotillion with spiked punch and electric slide".

It's kinda funny to read of all the difficulty with the Americanisms & American accents.
OK I'll bite, what the hell
does
"electric slide" mean?
Oh, and when Jim posted this:

I think he fell foul of the many weirdnesses of WX URLs.

might work better. The old "eleven after the questionmark instead of thirteen" problem, eh?
It's a group dance often done at weddings. Well, not so much anymore - it was big in the 80s. Sort of like the macarena, but not quite as bad.
Triple, because, well, coffee.
Min, so happy to hear your friends are doing well.
I'm conscious now that I wasn't one of the people who sent you good wishes and good-luck vibes and so on, but I was busy, and in Asia myself, at the time. I do so retrospectively now. Very glad to hear they're better.

Aha, that makes sense. Not the one where everyone pretends to row a boat or whatever? That one was a bit surreal.
