No other candidate is asking the hard questions, like "Did geophysicists assassinate Jim Henson?" or "Why is there hydrogen in America's water supply?" --defective yeti

Riley: That's Hostile 17.

Spike: Uh, no! I'm (bad American accent) just a friend of Xanderrr's--

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Yeah. Future perfect passive.

Super Porny Pants swoops in: "Darn right it's 'future', YOUNG lady!"

Is that Narrative Causality or Historical Imperative or just plain weird?

IME, among un-Americans, the unintelligible one, or the one with the most annoying voice is usually Willow. I tried to hook one friend from London, but she kept yelling, "Just blow your goddamn nose already!" at the girl.

Darn tootin'! Willow's voice sounds to me like a high powered drill being used in the house next door, and in the beginning I had to listen that little bit more closely to understand her. It manages to be whiny, but muffled (the stuffy nose effect), and just sets my teeth on edge. When she turned evil in s6 I was so damned happy (apart from the whole I Told You So thing), because her voice was deeper, less stuffy nosed, and lost the shrill whining sound.

The rest of the cast I've never had a problem understanding, despite the jargon/affectations. I do get thrown out of the story whenever Buffy says Dawn or ok though. Her vowels are really... rounded, or swallowed, or something, I dunno, it just distracts me.

That bahst'd Mahsters stole my ahhhhh's. (Probably only funny if you're familiar with my accent. Or Boston's.)

You mean by having to say "She has a brother called Don? I thought she had a sister called ... oh."

Hi John! That is exactly what I mean. I should have learnt that lesson by now, but nooo, for a split second I'm still scanning the screen going "Don? Where?"

I did actually have a reason for coming in here, before the shiny discussion distracted me. So, I just wanted to say a big fat thanks to all the lovely people who emailed, messaged, and posted their good wishes for my injured friends, it was a great comfort to me. The Buffistas are the best friends ever! *huggy smooches* Trin and My Boy are doing much better, and have both been released from hospital. Michael has to return often for outpatient treatment, but at the moment is just so blissed out to be home that he's handling it all well. Yay healing!

Back to the Saturday evening alcohol, away!

That's great news, Min!

I have had difficulty understanding SMG at times, but that's just because she sometimes talks so quickly! Also don't get some of the Americanisms. One sentence of which I could only understand the first two words until I read the transcript was "It's like cotillion with spiked punch and electric slide".

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Great news, Min!
