Mathair & Athair beo.

Embarassing even.

Why isn't anything in English spelt how it's pronounced?
Whats an ember-assing when it's at home?

Lurching from one disaster to the next.

look on the bright side; at least we'll all be synchronised again, so we can go, "Oh Fuck! Did you just see that!" without worrying that someone didn't, in fact, just see that. :)

Hi Julie. You new, or am I just -- as usual -- way out of the loop?

"When the world's run by fools it's the duty of intelligence to disobey." Martin Firrell

Although my bugger was more just continuing with the theme rather than an expression of real angst. (I am as up-to-date as the americans or any one with dl capability)

Julie, I also used to frequent antique auctions and have a collection of old/antique kitchen/dining things that includes a 4 imperial quart butter churn. Now, I'm the type of person/cook who often tries things at least once the old fashioned/by hand way, but I have to confess that I haven't yet attempted to hand churn 4 quarts of butter. It'll happen though, probably when I get a cow!

Hey Jimi, I was getting a little worried that we hadn't seen 'much' of you since you were sprung performing your impromptu strip-tease over on WX.

Well sorta yes. And sorta not. I'm old. But way more lurker than talker. (And lately, mostly just plain missing.)

Leaves me in an odd position though, because I'm all caught up on you guys (or you know, recently read up) and to you I'm just another weird Melburnian passing by.

Also, I'm all caught up on Buffy (and almost on Angel, and entirely on West Wing) so I end up not talking about the shows here because I don't want to spoil the non-NAFDA types. (I'm so hopeless at differentiating the episodes that I just know I'll talk about a "that" that happens next episode if I try!)

tea and tim tams...

but I have to confess that I haven't yet attempted to hand churn 4 quarts of butter

My experience with this doesn't extend past Sovereign Hill. I seem to remember that it uses muscles I had no idea I possessed. And apparently they're the kinds of muscles that get tired quickly. You're a brave woman. (Although I'll admit I find the idea of subsistence farming is actually rather appealing.)

(mostly edited for spelling. And to add..)

Can you tell I'm supposed to be writing exams at the moment? I suspect I'll be doing lots of posting on various boards over the next week :)

Yes. I imagine it is.

No other candidate is asking the hard questions, like "Did geophysicists assassinate Jim Henson?" or "Why is there hydrogen in America's water supply?" --defective yeti

I'm so far on the other side of that idea that I automatically read

(Although I'll admit I find the idea of subsistence farming is actually rather appalling.)

before I got dissonance from the context. I'm a city boy.

I dunno, clean fresh air, exercise...mud.

Possibly it was the fact that I spelt it "appealling" the first time. I kinda had a foot in each camp.

The idea appeals. The reality? Not so much. Unless it's all about needlework. And books, they're a subsistence item, right?

Um.

There's ALWAYS mud...books, NSM.
