I have had this happen twice! Once with a woman I hated, on the Paris Metro, and once with a woman I liked on the Royal Mile of Edinburgh. Yay tourism?
Let us not begin the number of times I have ego-googled and found people with my last name, and curious, investigated them -- only to discover they were my first cousins.
Hey. They live in Canada. All right, we're not hte most connect-y of families.
Ack. I was once in a newspaper office bitching about a former colleague from years past who was supposed to be in Hong Kong Then she walked around the corner.
Apparently my facial expression was one of pure horror.
edit
Nutty, maybe we're first cousins. Anyone from Southern Ontario?
Quebec, I fear. They split time between Montreal and Geneva (their mother is Swiss). My other cousins are Britons, so it's not entirely a wonder that we don't see each other.
My cousins in Baltimore? I see them all the time, now.
Penny, I have family in Sarnia and Toronto - where are you from?
Nutty, you have family in Baltimore?
keeps meaning to instigate a Balto-Washington F2F
Well, the communicative cousin is about to move to San Diego, with his wife and itty bitty niece (second cousin once removed? Whatev). But yeah.
Of course, by "all the time" I mean I have seen these cousins twice in one year, which is a bit of a leg up on the other cousins, one of whom (who is now about 18) I've never met at all.
Jim, Fiona, etc. - I dropped two tapes in the post today. 6 hours of Firefly and 2 of Buffy.
I'm from the Yukon, but my folks come from Woodstock and Kempville.

Yay Jon, TapeFairy
extraordinaire!
('Course, I'm still waiting for the second batch of tapes, which Jim posted last week. Which explains why John H, Nilly etc. are still waiting for the
first
batch of tapes, which I wanted to send together. I'll keep you posted).
I guess if we do "Buffistas outside the USA" as one project and worry about those inside the USA as another, that could work.
Where do you live, FayJay? Somewhere in the Home Counties, right?
Nah - Yorkshire. Oop North. It's grim. ;o)
