What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Damn. I knew about some of those, but...damn.

Has anyone read Chew ? A co-worker recommended it to me, and it sounds pretty good.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Reading all those in a row actually made me a little nauseous.

I do understand the complaint of writers and critics that fanboys are too continuity obsessed and that it hems in storytelling.

But...those retcons are all So Monumentally STUPID.

The best thing about Alan Moore's forays into the DC Universe were that he always cared about the core elements of the characters. Okay, admittedly he did do a complete wipe and rewrite on Swamp Thing but he's fuckin' Alan Moore and he made it more interesting than it had been before.

How do you punch reality? If I punched this table hard enough would I crack Earth 3?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Beau loves comics and he is currently very pissed about what the Hulk as become. He told me, haltingly, about a red hulk named "Rulk."

WTF?

And then he went on to a 20 minute rant about other Hulk stuff that I did not understand.

Yeah, there seem to be all these different-colored Hulks or something. And now there's going to be some sort of "Fall of the Hulks" story to wipe them out, I guess? I don't know.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Removing the Spidey/MJ marriage was not a retcon. It was a plot development. Doesn't make it less stupid, though.

Wolverine's not a fucking mutant? And Wolfsbane isn't either? Give me a break. And he can die? What are they doing?

They have some classic ones that everyone should hate, like Jean Grey and the third Summers brother. I'm glad they brought up ruining Batgirl too. She used to be my favourite character not named Ororo.

Okay, admittedly he did do a complete wipe and rewrite on Swamp Thing but he's fuckin' Alan Moore and he made it more interesting than it had been before.

He did a retcon. Call a spade a spade. He just did one that people like.

Yeah, I had no idea about that. Also, he has a son now or something.

I'm glad they brought up ruining Batgirl too. She used to be my favourite character not named Ororo.

Yeah, a friend of mine was pissed at that development, and I was all WTF about it too. I like Cass.

It most definitely was a retroactive change of continuity.

But it was changing the past moving forward. From that point on, the marriage had never happened. If they explained that the marriage had always never happened (you just thought it had, for some strange reason) then that would be a retcon.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

How do you punch reality? If I punched this table hard enough would I crack Earth 3?

Are you Kryptonian?

I'm glad they brought up ruining Batgirl too.

That was a fucking travesty. Way worse, actually, than Superboy-Prime punching a hole in reality. That's just laughable. But Cassandra Cain was such a good goddamned character, from the time she was introduced in No Man's Land. And they just ruined her.
