Has anyone else been watching "Wolverine and the X-Men"? I just caught the first three episodes, and I'm enjoying it so far. I was kind of surprised they didn't do the typical "What are Mutants? Why does Senator Kelly have it out for them? Who the X-Men? What's the deal with Xavier's school?" It just assumes you know all this from previous iterations and throws you right into the story. Which I'm good with, since I've seen it so many times before.
It seems to mostly pull from the comics, though Rogue appears to be the movie version, with no Ms. Marvel powers and seeing Wolverine as a sort of father figure. And they apparently decided to chuck the White Queen aspect of Emma's history (at least for now) and her previous interactions with Kitty.
Does anyone else read
100 Bullets
? I'm almost caught up for the final issue.
There were things I liked about "Final Crisis." Lots of them, actually.
But I just read the last issue, and ...
What the hell just happened?
(OK. I'll admit, though, that I enjoyed seeing Capt. Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew in the last stand bit.)
Did the new Buffy come out yesterday?
Yes! And it was pretty fun, actually. A little cracktastic (and it continues the annoying plot point from last week about vampire awareness), but enjoyable. I read through it fast, but it's one I want to read again slower.
Yay Bloom County!
This month's Buffy didn't really stand out for me. It felt more like an episode of Doctor Who. Half an episode even.
I also picked up Obama/Spider-Man. Major disappointment. It's not a whole issue, more like 4 pages. I guess I'm glad I have it. It is cool to have the image of Obama and Spidey doing the terrorist fist bump.
It felt more like an episode of Doctor Who.
Ha, that's true. Maybe that's why I liked it.
Powers
series!
FX just said goodbye to one badass detective, but it's in the market for another one.
Comics author Brian Michael Bendis said at last week's New York Comic-Con that he's finished a pilot script based on his and Michael Avon Oeming's series Powers. That the project "is in active development" at the cable channel, Bendis tells MTV's Splash Page blog.

ETA: Contains a big SPOILER if you're not caught up on the comic. (Thanks Jess.)
