I look more rad than Lutheranism

Well, for my sins, I have finished reading Final Crisis.

I think it was dreadful. Actually a more succulent word would be 'tripe'.

Oh sweet Jesus. I read FC #7 yesterday -- if "read" is the right word -- and I want to beat Grant Morrison and Dan Didio senseless with a copy of V For Vendetta.

The whole of Final Crisis was one huge sploogey mess of unresolved plot threads -- if "plot" is the right word -- that I realized I completely don't give a damn about.

Except I still love Batman shooting Darkseid with the deus ex godbullet. And -- I admit it -- I *loved* the end, with what is obviously Batman somewhere (or somewhen? or both -- like, Earth-999, a millenium ago) because of the Omega Sanction. I'm a sucker. I can't help it.

The rest of Final Crisis, though? If I were to list everything that was lame/confusing/mindnumbingly stupid, it would take pages. PAGES.

Like -- a FUCKING VAMPIRE?!?!? Seriously??????

The funniest comment I've seen about this was from a poster on the Newsarama boards -

The funniest comment I've seen was a thread title at the DC boards:

"I would rather watch a Shaq movie than reread Final Crisis ."

That about sums it up.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Bwah! Between that and what I've heard about the identity of one of the Black Lanterns, DC is making my boycott really easy to maintain.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

From the Nathan Fillion interview:

NATHAN FILLION: We had a whole handful of super heroes. Wolverine was Canadian. A lot of Americans don’t want to hear that. You’ve got Guardian, you had Sasquatch. You had those twins. You had Puck, the little guy. I think maybe, if I could be a Canadian super hero, I’d have some kind of freezing power and some sort of maple syrup weapon. Could be a little sticky.

The surest way to establish geek cred? Discuss "Alpha Flight."

There is one Batman product I am looking forward to - The Batman Arkham Asylum video game! Follow the [link] to see screenshots and a new trailer with plenty of Joker.

Now tagless for your comfort.

The AA video game is exciting news!

The Caked Crusaders at Cakewrecks are gut-wrenching.

Anyone else reading the new Umbrella Academy?

...DC is making my boycott really easy to maintain.

Vixen: Return of the Lion has been pretty good. It's actually the only DC Universe title I've ever bought, simply because it's written by G. Willow Wilson. Her Vertigo series Air is one of the most perfect comics I've ever read; I highly recommend that.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

Hey, Miracleman, you fancy joining me on a little Dan Didio hunting?

I've heard he's a wily prey. I'll bring my duck call.

I leafed through Final Crisis #7 at the comic shop today. While I don't expect the final issue of a big crossover miniseries to make any sense to me coming into it cold, am I correct in my belief that people who've been reading all along found it equally nonsensical?

Yes, nonsensical. Even the final big fight scene was filled with "whuh?" given that the arch-nemesis in that scene actually doesn't appear anywhere else in the FC series. Apparently that part of the arc occurred in Superman Beyond #1 & #2.

There are a few peeps that liked or loved FC but they are in a very significant minority. It's fair to say DC has pissed off a lot of their reader-base.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

My friend says it "may not be excellent but it is incredibly fascinating, too cerebral for its own good at times and often just depressing." He loves Grant Morrison and Superman, though, so he loved FC. I don't really have any idea what happened in it.
