Trust my rage

I'm way OT here, but...

June 10th!

Just a little reminder that Ellie's birthday is June 4th. Incase you want to aim for that day, it's a great day to have a baby.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

From way long ago...

I am a flail addict, I admit my flailings and turn my flail over to a higher power.

Sail, may I tag?

So very much enjoying the BSG talk... here's my humble contribution. Apologies if someone else already brought it up.

The Cylons have a plan, as we're told every single episode. And yet, during seasons 2 and 3, events tended to show the contrary, with Six and Eight proposing the occupation, and Three continuously dying to try and figure out who the Final Five are. Now we find out that four of the five (if not all) were leaders in the Resistance. What if that is not a coincidence, and they were rebelling b/c they were programmed to resist any deviance from The Plan?

I like it because the Cylons were creepier when they really seemed to have a plan and we didn't know what it was. Turns out... they may not know, either! Does the final Cylon know? I do love Cylons as the ultimate unreliable narrators. It keeps us guessing and gives the writers a lot of freedom.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

What if that is not a coincidence, and they were rebelling b/c they were programmed to resist any deviance from The Plan?

Ooh, I like this idea.

Ooh, I like this idea.

Me, too. One of the things that keeps BSG from Lost-ing is this belief that the Cylons do have a plan. I keep hoping that we will see it.

eta: I see one other comparison to Angel here. When Joss started with Buffy, people were good and demons were bad. Angel was the singular exception. Then, as time went one, and as AtS developed, demons and people began to be both good and bad. I see the same with BSG. Baltar was sort of the one human exception, but now we have some "good" Cylons along with some newly-discovered-to-be-Cylons who we all really like.

Send Lawyers, Guns and Chutley.

And I love your tagline--or did, when I first read it as "Send lawyers, guns, and chutney."

Chutney? Delicious.

Chutley? Crazy Delicious.

Topic: I keep seeing spec that Adama could be the final Cylon. It confuses me, what with the having kids and everything. But then, I was up too late re-watching Supernatural, so I'm operating on less than my standard amount of intelligence.

The main thing that was leading me to ask about Lee hearing the music was the Leoben once told Roslin that Adama was a Cylon or something to that effect. But if it's not Lee, perhaps it is Bill. But I'll be mad if Bill Adama is a Cylon unless they do an amazing job selling it.

He truly is an individual nearly bereft of conscience
I disagree. We've seen plenty of evidence of his conscience. It's just not as powerful as his fear.

I was surprised to see (not just here, but in LJ, too) the name of Lost invoked in any way, in posts about BSG.
Yeah. I assume people feel frustrated because their questions aren't being answered? But I think a lot of the unanswered questions in fandom... aren't. I don't mean this as grumpily as it sounds, but it's a good example: I don't understand why there's any question about who wrote the note. There's never been any indication that it's supposed to be a big mystery, so I've never doubted that it was Baltar. And I see other stuff like that going on in various places. It's like nobody wants to get caught falling for a trick, so there's a demand for things to be triple-sourced when stories just don't work that way.

For me it comes down to, Galactica has generally played fair. We generally know slightly more than the characters, and things they know aren't kept secret solely to create mystery. The only exception I can think of is the "what happened between Starbuck and Lee" subplot, which, whatever.

Lost, from what I saw, does not play fair. Which is why I didn't see much of it.

Will the fleet discover a neolithic or Bronze Age earth, whose inhabitants are descendants of the 13th Tribe after their civilization collapsed or sank into the Atlantic?
Or perhaps they'll discover.... PIRATES!

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Or perhaps they'll discover.... PIRATES!

The intrepid crew of the Black Pearl as they search for Jack Sparrow??

I think it has to be earlier than that. In order for there to be ninja, too.

I think Joss ruined TV for me...or at least raised my expectations. Because it always seemed like there was one little clue thrown out there and then 15 episodes or 2 seasons later we found out what it meant. I always think of how Vamp!Willow was a little gay. Maybe there was no plan to make Willow gay but they paid off on what they had put in there. I know there are others, but that's the first that comes to mind.

I won't be crushed if we never find out who left Adama the note, but I would be extra impressed with RDM and staff if they had a good answer for us somewhere along the way.
