Boxed Set, Vol. III: "That Can't Be Good..."
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

How gay is Zach? The article contains guesses about future Heroes plot based on casting news linked to upthread. Kring's comments.
That was an awfully lame response on the part of Kring. Why'd he bother?
Yeah, what the hell? This has Dead Like Me written all over it. Bryan Fuller intended to make George's dad gay and even set it up in the pilot, but the network nixed the idea. And I swear I read an interview with Fuller early on that said Zach was gay, so I was confused when that wasn't being made clear for many episodes. And then I thought it was, and now Kring said it wasn't? Weird.
Nice to see that the mere prospect of a secondary character (who's most likely being written out anyway) being gay has sent NBC into Watergate cover-up mode. What network was Will & Grace on, again?

Wasn't Dead Like Me on ShowTime or another premium channel?
Before I read Kring's comments, I wondered if there was a chance they decided not to portray Zach as gay, because they're going to kill him, and they didn't want a Tara on their hands.
To tell you the truth, I never thought Zach read gay, until the implied coming-out scene, which felt contrived to me. I thought he had a crush on Claire. Then again, I never paid attention to the MySpace page, and website stuff, either.

Yes, it was on Showtime.

Right, I think that was what Kring must have intended, but since I'd read that interview that said he was gay, I saw that instead.

Ditto to all that. One of my guesses would be they weren't expecting it to come off like he has a crush on her, and maybe they decided to change course to take advantage of the chemistry? I don't know. I was surprised to learn he was being presented as gay in the collateral materials (I tend to avoid homework with my TV, beyond boards) -- I just figured on the show, the kids who mocked him were being jackasses like kids are.

I always got the gay vibe from him. I liked that it wasn't the pathetic geek craving love from the cheerleader
I got an outcast, to-be-resolved vibe from him. Having him not be gay doesn't stick out to me.
Who knew the network responsible for Mansquito had this kind of quality up their sleeves?
I know!
