Buffy: How bored were you last year? Giles: I watched 'Passions' with Spike. Let us never speak of it.

'Beneath You'

Spike's Bitches 31: We're Motivated Go-getters.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Loved Season 2 of Veronica Mars

I didn't love it as shown. It would have worked better for me in marathon. This should be the only way I watch shows. This one bit a week with the occasional month long break doesn't work for me anymore.

I love the otter talk since I am semi-vacationing in Otter Lake. Haven't seen any of the cuties yet this year. I have seen some muck gobbling carp though. The town bought over a thousand of them at $8 each to try and clean up the bottom of the lake some. Hope it works.

Slut that I am I had sex with each of my 3 husbands on the first date. Had no intention of marrying any of them. When will I ever learn?

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

The denoument was VERY satisfying, imho - there were things I'd sort of suspected, but other things I totally didn't see coming. Loved it. Really looking forward to Season 3...which I'll probably be mainlining about twelve months from now.

Quite apart from the acting (which is consistently good) and the writing (which ditto), I really do love the look of the show. Which I rambled on about at some length, I know, but - it's so PRETTY! So many many scenes are shot like some sort of Hopper painting, only more so - silhouettes and shadows and walls of coloured light and fascinating textures and patterns...just beautiful. Consciously so. Good job, set-and-light guys!

It would have worked better for me in marathon. This should be the only way I watch shows.

This pretty much is the only way I watch shows, for the past couple of years. May change when I'm in Bangkok, but I'm not holding my breath...

Hi Fay!

I discussed my issues with VM at the end of the season in that thread. Mostly I adore the characters and the snappy dialogue. But really it's further along the bleak curve than I like. Both seasons upset me. There is so much good that I will come back for S3, but I hope like hell that the underlying issues don't involve rape or child abuse. That just isn't so much entertaining for me.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Hi Fay! I'm glad you're enjoying VM and SPN. I posted a couple of fic links in the fanfic thread for the latter.

One of the reasons I like VM is that it gives people so much to discuss. I lent my S1 dvds to a coworker just so I could have someone at work to burble on about the show with.

Mostly lurking...

I am balancing my checkbook for the last month. This is not fun. Some might even call it depressing.

BUT, I am avoiding packing, so there's that!

Oh, shit. That was worse than I thought. I should have packed boxes.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Intresting. Hmm.

Did you think that these themes were used gratuitously, Laura? Or was it simply that you'd rather not have them crop up?

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Reading through some of the sites associated with Girl Wonder, I was perusing Girls Read Comics and they're Pissed (and mentally adding 'Off' at the end, rather than visualising lots of drunken comic-appreciation), and I need some help pinpointing this bit of BtVS canon:

Buffy Summers - how I loathe what was done to this character - ended up forcing oral sex on a male character over his repeated verbal objections. To a musical sting. The writers, I am fairly certain, did not actually realise they had written a rape, particularly as this same character later attempted to rape Buffy, which was not treated as at all amusing.

To which episode is she referring?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I would assume Doublemeat.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I think she's referring to Gone.

I also don't agree with her interpretation of the text there. (Or her interpretation of BoP 68, for that matter, but variety is the spice of life and blogging.)
