Lorne: Once the word spreads you beat up an innocent old man, well, the truly terrible will think twice before going toe-to-toe with our Avenging Angel. Spike: Yes. The geriatric community will be soiling their nappies when they hear you're on the case. Bravo.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I think that a lot, tommyrot. Especially when I see a VW convertible with a for sale sign.

move out and draw fire

Yeah, Smart Cars are a lot cheaper here than they would be in the US. But they have a great maintenance record, and the savings in gas could really drop the price of ownership.

I think the savings in headaches are probably not as great in most US cities, especially west of the Mississippi, but here they are a dream for getting through tight streets and finding parking. And they actually fit in Athens Fantasy Car parking spaces, which my Passat doesn't.

My landlord has a ForTwo, and does not use it for long trips, but then he's got a very cush Mercedes with basically a home theater in it for that.

Librarian Warlord

There's a place in Santa Rosa, CA selling Smart Cars now. The price tag on them was about 20K, and they were getting about 40 mpg after all the futzing with American/California emissions standards (I think I remember that they get about 60 mpg in Europe).

Happy Birthday, J.Z.!

Thanks, Emily! No, I haven't really looked at DIY stuff, since it's all gonna have to wait, no matter what, unless it can be fixed for under $20. Plus, it's a power mirror. So mostly I'm just scared about what anyone's gonna say. And I still need to fix the slashes in my roof. So irritating.

Joss is so cool.

Smart cars are hysterical. I am bigger than them.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Sometimes I'd think it'd be fun to have an old (mid-'60s or older) VW Beetle to use to run around town....

You should totally get a bright yellow one and paint an Autobot symbol on the hood.

That or get a blue one, which pretty much speaks for itself.
