Angel: I appreciate you guys looking out for Connor all summer. It's just—he's confused. He needs time. That's all. Fred: Right. Time, and some corporal punishment with a large heavy mallet. Not that I'm bitter.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I want a Smart Car. But then, I do very little driving in the city, and I'd probably want something bigger for road trips....

My problem with Smart Cars is that because of various costs associated with importing they are still fairly pricey for what they are.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I've only seen pictures of Smart Cars. Very cute, and seem like a good idea if you have a lot of in town driving to do. I'd be afraid to take one on the interstate, I think, and that would really limit it's usefulness for me.

Sometimes I'd think it'd be fun to have an old (mid-'60s or older) VW Beetle to use to run around town....

I think that a lot, tommyrot. Especially when I see a VW convertible with a for sale sign.

move out and draw fire

Yeah, Smart Cars are a lot cheaper here than they would be in the US. But they have a great maintenance record, and the savings in gas could really drop the price of ownership.

I think the savings in headaches are probably not as great in most US cities, especially west of the Mississippi, but here they are a dream for getting through tight streets and finding parking. And they actually fit in Athens Fantasy Car parking spaces, which my Passat doesn't.

My landlord has a ForTwo, and does not use it for long trips, but then he's got a very cush Mercedes with basically a home theater in it for that.

Librarian Warlord

There's a place in Santa Rosa, CA selling Smart Cars now. The price tag on them was about 20K, and they were getting about 40 mpg after all the futzing with American/California emissions standards (I think I remember that they get about 60 mpg in Europe).
