Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Wait. You would NOT pit the cherries? Seriously?? (Just don't call it clafouti with blueberries, if need be.)

OK, so the proactive measures to protect my sheets? Didn't get tested. Poor Devi spent the night shut in the closet. I didn't even know she was in there. She must have gone in during the worst of the thunder and since I always make sure it is shut before I go to bed....

Poor kitty. She wasn't too happy, since it looked like she knocked the laundry basket down on herself and it literally scared the shit out of her. Uhg.

Of course, now I keep thinking I smell cat piss everywhere, which isn't actually possible since nothing I am wearing was actually in the closet.

Don't even get me started. My aunt insists that no proper clafouti has pitted cherries, it ruins the flavor. Her son-in-law (and most of the rest of us) thinks she's craxy and persists in debating her on this. It. Comes. Up. Every. Time.

Clafouti is very much "home cooking" in France. It's one of the few things a French person will bake themselves. So they have opinions. Which they express. As the French are wont to do.

Edited, because the French make lots of things, but they seldom bake.

Ann, that's a ferret.

I spent 2 hours on Metro this morning. Several stations are closed because of flooding. Alternate plans worked, but just barely because at least one line is trying to send trains in both directions on one track.

I was rather surprised to hear that MARC between Baltimore and DC was down. Only the New Carollton line is operating. And there is supposed to be MORE rain.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Yesterday afternoon I drove from Minneapolis to Chicago. There was rain. Lots and lots of rain. And lots of traffic. Lots of "Can I slam on my brakes hard enough to avoid hitting the suddenly-stopped car in front of me, but not hard enough to lock the brakes up?"

Am so tired.

Is there a spittoon at the table for the pits?!?

The flash flood watch has been extended to tomorrow evening.

Hah. No, this is where you perfect the art of hand-to-mouth-to-plate disposal.

This is what I'm saying! I can see the flavor argument, but the convenience of being able to eat the whole bite of food outweighs it, IMO. I guess this is why I'm not French.
