Maybe Tim can be his new Ron Moore, with the sense-bringing.

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.
Speaking of Ron Moore, I made the mistake of looking at the Sci Fi channel forum for TOS of Galactica and you'd think Moore was the devil with the way those people talk about him.
I'm guessing a lot of us wouldn't be too thrilled if new not-Joss producers did a revamp (so to speak) of Buffy or Firefly 30 years down the line that made use of a completely different tone from the original's. Hell, there's already a lot of Marti Noxon is the Devil talk on the internet from Seasons 6 and 7.
I would be irritated if it sucked, but the premise of a revamp doesn't bother me any. This isn't George Lucas. I have my DVDs.
Starbuck is a man, dammit!
No, I'm kidding. ITA with ita.
It's like being mad at Coppola if you're a fan of the Godfather novel. You picked the wrong side, you know?
Are there BtVS movie fans who hate Joss for what he did with the show? That'd be the most apt comparison in my eyes.

Fran Kuzui, I suspect. And maybe Paul Ruebens.

I honestly think it would depend on if it was any good. Yeah, there'd be an initial concern and some nostalgia (much like how I'm feeling towards the "reboot" with the new Star Trek movie) but in the end it would depend on the final product.
A lot of the complaints, though, are pretty much: Ron Moore is the devil that destroyed everything that was great about the original show. The writing and acting is absolutely terrible. There's no plot, all they do is fight all the time and when they're not fighting, they're having sex.
Which makes me think "Have you actually watched the show, or did you just see the first 5 minutes of the mini and then base everything else on the previews?"

Actually, when the show first came out, I didn't watch because the previews were making it seem like it was just a bad horror show, whereas I'd been amused by the movie. Then I finally saw the show and realized what it actually was.
And maybe Paul Ruebens.
Eh, I suspect he could get behind the change even thought it meant his phenomenal death scene would never fit the show except in a AU-or-otherwise-reality*-bending episode (why do I always type epidose?)
*reality as defined by the series
eta The whole "Kill him! A lot!" would have fit Spike to a T if he'd lost an arm.
