I see were in for another of Fox's attempts to subvert its own fan base by making it hard to remember when something airs.
I had a sinking feeling when I realized that most of my favorite shows this year were on Fox. Damn.
I don't hate Standoff, and kind of have some hope that Tim might be able to make it worthwhile. I'll miss Justice though. There were some annoying things about it, but I thought the characters were kinda interesting and I kinda liked the conceit of them telling the "truth" at the end.
I don't hate it, I think that there's some good stuff there. Some of the characters are extremely broadly drawn (like the tactical guy who always wants to go in and blow shit up), I look forward to Tim giving them some nuance.
Tim is like that Harvey Keitel character in Pulp Fiction. When everything goes to shit and there's a slimy corpse rotting at FOX, they call him in to clean up the mess. And after he's all done with surgery and has brought it out of mostly dead, they shoot the reanimated thing in the back of the head and run away laughing.
Um. I'm a little bitter.
Um. I'm a little bitter.
Just because you are bitter doesn't mean they aren't really out to get him. Or something.

I saw Pulp Fiction six times and still managed to miss that part.
Oh, bah. I thought Standoff was *terrible*. I tried to watch the pilot, mostly for Gina Torres and Ron Livingston, who I adore, and developed an instant hate-on for the two main characters 15 minutes into the show. The writing was pretty dire as well. Tim's involvement would usually mean I'd give anything a try, but with this one, I may have to pass. The scheduling opposite VMars is not helping, either.
I was going to ask what it is, because I hadn't heard of it. Even with this (the above) I have no clue, although I do have a dim memory of learning Gina had a show, I completely forgot about it. If it's opposite Veronica Mars, I can't watch it. Well I could, but when Veronica gets canceled, I'd blame myself. Even though I've never been part of a Nielsen household. Shut up.
Posters for Standoff are everywhere here, and I ♥ Ron Livingston (forgot about the Gina thing). Still, never stuck in my head long enough to make it to my TiVo. And the female lead looks annoying.

I thought he was less annoying in the last episode. Then again, they did finally give him something to do.
From a Zap2it article about Fox changing it's schedule:
In addition, the industry trades are reporting that "Standoff" is shutting down production for 10 days. That extra time will allow new consulting producer Tim Minear ("Angel") to get up to speed ("You see, Tim, they're hostage negotiators and they're sleeping together. There. You're up to speed."). "Standoff" will have its last pre-baseball airing tonight.
