I'm not sure about cilantro, which either means I don't notice it or I abhor it. Cumin is horrible, though.

At some point I wondered if I was a supertaster, but I think it's actually more about smells. I mean, I know a lot of taste is smell anyway, but that seems to be the sticking point. I can't stand the smell of bananas, but I like banana-flavored things. I had a bite of someone's banana split once -- I was trying to just get the ice cream but accidentally got a bit of banana and didn't realize till I was chewing. And then I realized that since it was cold, there wasn't an odor, so it was fine.

Sadly, supersmeller isn't as appealling a description as supertaster.

I also dislike tomatoes, but not in sauce, just raw ones

I dislike most tomatoes raw, but that's becuase they are almost never true, ripe, in-season tomatoes. I adore the raw heirloom tomoatoes I've tried, though.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm fairly melon indifferent. I don't hate it, but I generally see it as filler in a fruit salad--something that could be replaced by more interesting, tasty fruits.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Hey New Yorkers -- how good do you think the odds are that Whole Foods will have kosher-for-passover candy or something? Is there someplace else not on the LES or in Brooklyn I should go instead? I need a hostess gift, and am trying to figure out how much looking I'll need to do.

Cumin is horrible

Hugs cumin laden bowl of chili closely. Unless it's that craxy Cincy faux-chilli, in which case I fling bowl across the room in disgust.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Hey New Yorkers -- how good do you think the odds are that Whole Foods will have kosher-for-passover candy or something?

I'm sure they will -- I'm guessing most grocery stores have a kosher-for-passover aisle this week.

What about a bottle of kosher wine? Everyone at the seder has to drink 4 glasses, so you know it won't go to waste. (And there's *much* better stuff out there than Manishevitz these days.)

Cumin stinks, but adds extra bite to ground meat (and guacamole) if used sparingly.

I like melons, but don't like tomatoes.

You're welcome to it. Cumin's up there with peanuts. Thai food is probably my kryptonite.

Oh, oh, me too! This is fun.

How can y'all be so picky about food? Good cooks make you forget the ingredients in favor of the dish.
