I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

Got home from shopping. Have had a headache all afternoon. I thought I'd solved the headache problem by reducing my prescription. I sure hope this isn't going to be an ongoing thing. Although all the noxious fumes from various plastics at Shoe Pavilion could certainly have made things worse. I bought a pair of fake Crocs (ain't no way I'm paying $30 a pair for cheap plastic shoes) and the fumes from them are so bad I had to put them elsewhere in the house. Oy.

Picked up quite a few things although I will say that the current taste in fashion is in teh shitter. I have a hard time finding anything I like. We picked up long linen shirts in white, black, and lavender for $20 apiece. Got some camisoles with shelf bras, a black lace top with some color accents in the black, a gorgeous full tiered black silk skirt, and some black slacks that actually fit. I also got a formal gown that was of black netting embellished with black bugle beads over a 100% silk sheath. It didn't fit me but it will when I lose weight. And I *will* lose weight. $60 was just too good for a formal gown of silk and bugle beads that actually makes my bust look good. Likewise the silk skirt was just a *wee* bit tight. Actually, since it was marked size 12 I didn't expect it to fit at all. I was trying it on so I could see how feasible it would be to remove the top topmost tiers and substitute a top of double-knit jersey. I had an old Anne Klein skirt that had that and it worked really well. But surprisingly the skirt fit anyway.

Shoe shopping was a bust. When you wear a size 11 in women's, they really don't carry much for you. It's a little better than the days when all you could find were nurse shoes but the current shoe fashions aren't helping me. I hate the moccasin look. Most shoes I see today just look butt ugly to me. I think I'm going to have to save up for something from Amazon Drygoods.

Zappos carries a lot of 11s, Spidra.

How lame am I? I went to make myself a margarita, and I only had a tiny bit of mix, and only 2 small ice cubes, so now I am drinking the world's smallest mixed drink.

You're just getting your nouvelle drunk on!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I am jealous of your wee drink.

I grabbed some TJ's marg mix a while back but I have no ice. And no tequila cause I have to find the state-sanctioned one. Still.

I have no margarita.

Well I can have a virgin margarita, neat. But really? What's festive about that?

(eta: Huh. It's the very very first-world version of wishing I had a root.)

Thanks, Perkins. I'm taking a look at Zappos right now but I think my abhorrence for current fashion is going to be a problem. Whereas I can find a pair of boots I like, I'm sure, I can't find a pair of dress shoes or shoes suitable for work that I like. I wish it were as easy for me to learn to make shoes as it has been to sew. Then I'd be my own cobbler in a second.

information libertarian

Argh. The Frat Boys next Door are doing that thing where they're not having a party, just maybe 3 friends over, and they're not being consistently loud, just stepping out for a cigarette or a cell phone chat on the deck every 15 minutes. Except it's gorgeous, so I have the windows open, and every time they step outside and start to talk in semi-drunk tones of voice they wake me up. I don't even feel justified in complaining, which somehow makes it worse.
