Yeah, but you're an amateur fry cook and I come from a long line of fry cooks that don't live past 25.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Is it mean of me to be entertained by the kerfuffle in the Wheel of Time fandom about mixed-race casting? They're all, "oh the text is being violated by the SJWs!" and I can't help snickering because that text was... so... bad. Even a terrible tv adaptation could only be an improvement.

... YBMV. I gave up after 5 books or so when I realized that the story was moving ever slower, and eventually would result in a 1200-page book that covered a single hour of story.

Coding and Sleeping

Yeah, I just petered out after awhile. I thought it was a decent trilogy (maybe not brilliantly written, but entertaining) that got way, way out of hand. But, yeah, around book 4 or 5 it got so repetitive and slow and I realized that every female character was basically the same person.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I think I made it almost halfway through the first book when I realized I had no idea what was going on or who anybody was.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I started reading The Mere Wife last night, and it was so good! I only put it down when I could no longer keep my eyes open, and I can't wait to get back to it tonight.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Buffista parents: I am in search of Where's My Cow A bedtime book that will not make me want to gouge my eyes out by the 5th reading.

Goodnight Moon is RIGHT OUT, and this is one of the few places that I feel that I can trust not to have recommended it in the first place.

Unfortunately, the Ankh-Morpork version of Where's My Cow? was vetoed by Lady Sybil.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Yeah, I've seen the released version, and that won't work for me. Sadly, the in-universe book might, but does not seem to exist.

Our bedtime go-to for years was Ten, Nine, Eight by Molly Bang. Pajama Time by Sandra Boynton is great too.
