Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

A completely ridiculous question: Did any of you ever read the tie-in novels for Dark Shadows? I'm assuming they're kind of appalling, but I want to know if they're appalling in that fun gothic popcorn sort of way. I keep finding them on eBay and being tempted to bid.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I keep finding them on eBay and being tempted to bid.

I could probably grab one cheap at Kayo books (which has a big Tie-In movie selection), so you could sample one.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

It’s just a really good book, it’s well-written, and it’s good for both genders because while there’s killing there’s also a love triangle.

Oh, kids.

Mark is going to read The Princess Bride. This is going to take Not Prepared to completely unheard of levels. I doubt many people have read the book--especially given the number of people who have seen the movie--but the book is very much unlike the movie. It's like The Last Action Hero, a commentary on the genre rather than being a story within the genre. I love that the movie was written by the author of the book, a lot of the framing story is still there, but the tones of the two are so vastly different that it's going to be odd. I think a lot of people are going to be confused.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I think a lot of people are going to be confused.

I know I was but it only took me a few chapters to fall in love as much as I had with the movie.

ME TOO.

I'm sad the Zoo of Death didn't make it into the movie. Man, remember that DEADLY SPIDER??
