A year and a half ago, I could have eviscerated him with my thoughts. Now I can barely hurt his feelings. Things used to be so much simpler.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

It’s just a really good book, it’s well-written, and it’s good for both genders because while there’s killing there’s also a love triangle.

Oh, kids.

Mark is going to read The Princess Bride. This is going to take Not Prepared to completely unheard of levels. I doubt many people have read the book--especially given the number of people who have seen the movie--but the book is very much unlike the movie. It's like The Last Action Hero, a commentary on the genre rather than being a story within the genre. I love that the movie was written by the author of the book, a lot of the framing story is still there, but the tones of the two are so vastly different that it's going to be odd. I think a lot of people are going to be confused.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I think a lot of people are going to be confused.

I know I was but it only took me a few chapters to fall in love as much as I had with the movie.

I adored the hat chapter.

ME TOO.

I'm sad the Zoo of Death didn't make it into the movie. Man, remember that DEADLY SPIDER??

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

My friend interviewed 5th graders about the Hunger Games:

Awww, little Zoe is such a Buffista spirit baby.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Here come the king bats!

Oh, yes, the DEADLY SPIDER, lurking quietly on the door knob.

I doubt many people have read the book

Your many may vary, but in a self-selecting geek audience, it's not exactly obscure. The book has had almost as many editions as the DVD.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I've found a fair %age of people who'd identify themselves as SF and fantasy fans haven't read the book, and a depressing number don't even know that it exists, or that it has any sizable difference from the movie.
