In a mystery series, though, the protagonists are going to grow and change as the books progress, and part of the lure for me is always seeing their lives as "real people" outside of the job.
Then again, sex scenes don't bother me unless they're completely gratuitous and pointless. And even then, if they're super hot, whoo.

Tep, thanks, but I'm hard to gross out...that one did it. But I was twisted enough to drink a Slurpee during some of the parts. Then, it pissed me off...love-struck, starry-eyed teens don't need to be exposed to that much of Steph Meyer's psyche...it ain't right. That was all Too Much for me, and I've been in therapy...I know what metaphors are and how to approach media with a critical eye and what-have-you.

totally, Dana. I wish George pelecanos wrote better sex scenes, since he always includes one and he's my favorite crime writer. But they are not that good, and he always uses the word "sex" to refer to a woman's anatomy and it's a little weird.
