Also, and I know this is blasphemy, but like J.D. Robb's stuff, there was too much sex. I got bored and started skimming.
I don't know what's wrong with me, since I cut my sex teeth on Judith Krantz and the like and couldn't get enough back then...BUT I hate sex scenes in books now. I mean, if I am picking up Anais Nin, then of course I want to read sex. But I noticed how much I hated it when I was reading the Patrick/Angie Lehane books.
Or maybe I just didn't want to read Lehane-written sex scenes. Hmmm. Must ponder.
they should have gotten Cronenberg to direct it.
That's a very good point.
I think he already has.
Yeah, but not with swoony, dippy teen angst!
One of my biggest problems with
Twilight
(and resultant phenomenon) is that it made irrationally peeved by Cedric Diggory.

I know! We rewatched Goblet of Fire not long ago, and when Cedric came onscreen I actually "tch"ed. H asked what was wrong, and I just did the handwave dismissy thing. Totally my issue, he didn't need to be distracted.

I didn't mind the sex scenes in the Lehane books.
Whenever I see Cedric I imagine Daniel Radcliffe complaining about his craxy fans and I have a little chuckle.

Like I said, I think there's something wrong with me. I was wondering if I was getting prudish in my old age. But I don't think that's it, since I have no qualms about actual sex taking place in the world. I just don't want to read about it in the middle of a mystery/murder maybe? Idunno.
