Exactly. Bless you! Not to mention Arthur rated above The Producers, and The Wedding Singer at #7 and Groundhog Day somewhere in the 30s? And no Bringing Up Baby or To Be Or Not To Be or The Lady Eve?

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

I did point DH at your request for Altman submissions -- he wrote a really good piece a while back for an Altman blogathon, that could very easily be tweaked for publication. He's currently writing about 80-zillion other things, but I'll nudge him again to email you if he has time.
Thanks! That would be great. I'd love to get you to write for us, too, though. Think of it as a long post!
Um, because comedies are supposed to be funny?
Sorry, I know the Internet doesn't carry smells, but my sentence was soaked in sarcasm.
Yeah, the lack of screwballs is what gets me.
There are lots of good movies on that list. The order is just way out of whack. Basing myself on the criteria of funny, from their list my top 10 would be something like (in no particular order): This is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Best In Show, The Producers, Caddyshack, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Trading Places, Young Frankenstein, Stripes.

Apropos of nothing - Corwood, have you been watching The Thick of It on BBCA? It's like The Office, but with the cranky dry wit turned up to eleven. I've only seen the pilot so far, and I practically broke something laughing.
I've read about it, but we sadly don't get BBCA on cable anymore.
Oh, too bad -- it's fucking brilliant, and I think it'd be right up your alley. Hopefully there will be region 1 DVDs out soon.
It sure sounds perfect. I'll keep my eyes peeled for those DVDs. Or, at the very least, I'll hope that PBS picks up the series.
We just watched Doom. It wasn't completely unamusing. Unfortunately, occasionally Karl Urban actually acted, which threw the quality of the rest of the movie into stark contrast.
Plus, a Marine calling other Marines "soldier?!?" Dude.

Hee!! He's the only reason I would consider watching that movie (same with the Riddick flick). At least Bourne Supremacy had other things going for it in addition to Karl Urban.
