And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Apropos of nothing - Corwood, have you been watching The Thick of It on BBCA? It's like The Office, but with the cranky dry wit turned up to eleven. I've only seen the pilot so far, and I practically broke something laughing.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

I've read about it, but we sadly don't get BBCA on cable anymore.

Oh, too bad -- it's fucking brilliant, and I think it'd be right up your alley. Hopefully there will be region 1 DVDs out soon.

It sure sounds perfect. I'll keep my eyes peeled for those DVDs. Or, at the very least, I'll hope that PBS picks up the series.

move out and draw fire

We just watched Doom. It wasn't completely unamusing. Unfortunately, occasionally Karl Urban actually acted, which threw the quality of the rest of the movie into stark contrast.

Plus, a Marine calling other Marines "soldier?!?" Dude.

Hee!! He's the only reason I would consider watching that movie (same with the Riddick flick). At least Bourne Supremacy had other things going for it in addition to Karl Urban.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

What do they call each other? "Marine"? Is it only the Army who refer to each other as "soldier"?

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Well, the Navy calls its people "sailor," so I believe Marines are tinkers and the Coast Guard is full of tailors.

[edited to prove I'm not illiterate. Marines call each other Marines, IIRC. They're kind of -- cultish that way.]

[I have no idea what Coast Guard people call themselves.]

It is bad that I believed you for a second.

I suspect "dude" gets thrown around a lot.
