That article says:
The state Parks and Wildlife Department issued Cheney a warning for not possessing a required stamp on his hunting license, but the sheriff's deputies announced there was "no alcohol or misconduct involved in the incident."
Not having the proper license isn't misconduct? ISTG.
Cheney did not have a valid liscense to be hunting quail.
Ah, but did he have a valid licence to be hunting campaign contributors?
I am pretty sure that what needs to happen now is for some NRA members to have a press confernce and state how people like Cheney who do not obey the hunting laws and practice safe gun practices are the ones giving real hunters a bad name. He needs to be held up as a bad example.
Not to mention the part where, if The Daily Show is to be believed, it wasn't even actually hunting, just shooting birds. I mean, if we're supposed to say the guy got "peppered" instead of "shot," shouldn't we be saying "killing birds" instead of "hunting"?

Oof, this gmail IM thing is dangerous. I had to restrain myself from chatting up Nutty when I saw she was in gmail. I didn't even have anything in particular to say, but it seemed like an Opportunity for Nutty Talk. It seemed wasteful not to take advantage of it.
New York Times reported this AM that the White House (McClellan) and Jeb Bush were joking about the Cheney thing. Both jokes involved people wearing orange and "watch out for Cheney." Which seems pretty distasteful, and what if the fellow dies now, eh?

I read earlier someone describing the type of "hunting" that Cheney was doing as "Skeet shooting with live birds".
I mean, I think it's great that WE joke about it, and Jon Stewart and all. But the White House should not be joking; their jokiness is just another variety of spin.

Yeah. The birds are raised in captivity, then released as hunters stand by....
Not quite as bad as shooting a teathered deer... but not hunting, either.
