Thrive to spite them

Really distasteful.

I read earlier someone describing the type of "hunting" that Cheney was doing as "Skeet shooting with live birds".

information libertarian

I mean, I think it's great that WE joke about it, and Jon Stewart and all. But the White House should not be joking; their jokiness is just another variety of spin.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Yeah. The birds are raised in captivity, then released as hunters stand by....

Not quite as bad as shooting a teathered deer... but not hunting, either.

eta: From a blog:

Those pen raised birds can hardly fly. Sometimes the birds won't fly at all. They think you've come to feed them. That explains why Dick was aiming so low.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I talked to a friend of mine, who is a hunter. He is not impressed by Cheney's hunting skills. in fact , there was lip curling. He did give me some idea how it could happen, but he didn't seem to think just because it could happen - it should have happened.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Seriously.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Scars and extensive plastic surgery and heart attacks aren't joking matters if you caused them.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Yeah. The birds are raised in captivity, then released as hunters stand by....

Oh dear. My dad's a bird hunter, but he hunts wild birds (pheasant, quail, goose, duck).

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

It looks like this guy has had some serious complications from the accident, but having some buckshot rain down on you, especially while quail hunting, is pretty common. Which is why I am not surprised that someone would treat it lightly.

This is retarded. Quail are one of those birds that walk more than they fly. You flush them and shoot at them when they fly away, which means you do aim low. It's not like pen-raised quail are domesticated!

Didn't the guy go straight from the shoot to intensive care? Intensive care = time to stop treating it lightly, IMO. If they were regular people, they could then joke as soon as it was clear the guy was OK and he started joking about it himself. For the VP? No joking.
