In the meantime, I'm catching up here. I did get out to the Super Stop & Shop (you really have to emphasize how big it is) which while it was busier than usual for a Saturday morning, wasn't crazed... yet. I got all my favorite blizzardy foods, plus enough cat food that if we get snowed in for two weeks, the cats will continue to be fed in the manner they've been accustomed to.

Heh. When the 1992 Summer Olympics were in Barcelona, one of the US swimmers, Joe Hudepohl, was from Cincinnati. I was still in college, and that summer I had an internship at a Catholic magazine run by Franciscan friars.
The individual sports competitions were only aired during prime time, and on the weekends, even though, given the time change from Barcelona to here, they were taking place around mid-morning or so, IIRC. I remember the 6:00 news was always really careful to not spoil the medal count, or if they were going to talk about the Olympics, they said, really emphatically, that they were ABOUT TO TALK ABOUT THE MEDAL WINNERS, SO LEAVE THE ROOM IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW.
One of the Franciscan friars who worked at the magazine where I interned was one of Joe Hudepohl's uncles. When the US men's swim team won gold, one of the family members must have called right away, because Bro. Hudepohl came running through the office, yelling at the top of his lungs, "Joey won the gold! Joey won the gold!" Apparently spoiler policies don't apply to Franciscan friars whose nephews just won gold.
