I can't believe I tapped out before the most of the ceremony. I was just so pooped. And, as always happens when I go to bed early, I woke up at 5. But I did go back to nap at 9 and have been in sweats ever since. Once TAL ends, I'm getting showered and dressed and braving the DEATHSNOW2006! and doing my grocery shopping. It's barely snickling right now.

Announcing the country names in Italian then English then French is funny because first you get "pronounce every letter and sometimes add a few" then "sounds normal to me" then "chop off the last few letters"

You'd think this was a repeat of the 2003 storm. Good lord. Grocery and target were zoos. People stock up on the weirdest shit. 8 gallons of ice cream? 2 flats of bottled water. A cart FULL of cereal?
Now, granted, I was there too. Picking up my usual weekly groceries since I'd hate to schlepp them through slush and I wanted to start a crock pot stew tonight. But still! The clerk said that it wasn't so bad now. This was just up a little from normal saturday masses (I usually go late sat or on sunday.) But from 7 am to noon, they had lines to the back of the store.
And for the record, it has barely started sticking.
The Strand has parted me with my money. Mostly on Nevil Shutes, because they had so many!
