Funny thing about black and white. You mix it together and you get gray. And it doesn't matter how much white you try and put back in, you're never gonna get anything but gray.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I've been looking at the job openings at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute again. It's been that kind of (avoidant, escapist) day.

I've been avoiding and escaping by looking at library schools. Again. But this year, I've told people I'm actually planning to do it, so it may have to happen.

(also, car hunting, but that's something that makes me want to avoid and escape)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

maybe unable to read; maybe halting in memory or easily confused or a hudnred other possible outcomes, but -- when you've seen a guy walking despite a fist-size section of his gray matter missing, you've got to be impressed at the brain's recovery abilities.

Well, that's the point I'm making. Not that Woodruff will be a vegetable, but that he'll probably have some trouble reading a teleprompter and doing that kind of work that requires a lot of on-air instant-processing. That's a very likely place to have a deficit. I'm not saying people don't get better. They obviously do. But the presumption that a head trauma is like a broken bone or something like that which was impaired but is now repaired is not accurate.

Anyway, I'll return to Not Talking about it with the advisory that everybody start wearing crash helmets.

(I had an ex who was similarly freaked out about head traumas so I'd always hold my hands [ineffectually] over her head when we'd go under scaffolding. But she appreciated the gesture.)

If you bought a car, you could escape in it. You could buy an escapist car, like an MG.

I think I'm getting sick. This is my excuse for today, anyway. I would go home except I have to send an email for someone so it is anonymous. And the person hasn't gotten the text to me yet.

The only problem with an MG is that you can escape for about 3.5 blocks and then it stalls out.

But boy do you look cool for those 3 blocks.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Always Anti-fascist!

Hey! Funny how I turn up when y'all are talking about death or head injuries. DFW: I didn't understand all of Infinite Jest, but I'm still getting plenty of use out of it anyway. As a hand weight. No bullshit...the paperback must weigh two pounds. So maybe it didn't make me a stronger writer, but it could still make me...stronger.Note to writers: when your book has for-real heft in a non-book-review sense, time to stop. Gage: changed a lot emotionally. From a quiet Christian sort to angry profanity- spewing. Having him on the news would be like "Network" (thinking) Cool.

I don't really think transportation is really the point of a MG. It's about having fun and enjoying the opprotunity to learn about how to repair a car.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

It's about having fun and enjoying the opprotunity to learn about how to repair a car.

It's also good for those who want to practice their swearing.
