Timelies, everybody.
I can't get over the way networks in such different orders of magnitude present such similar characteristics. From protein networks, through various social ones, up to computer and airlines networks. Artifical or natural ones, too. Fascinating stuff.
Very cool.
Hmm. I've been lounging around all morning. I'm meeting a friend for lunch in about two hours. If I get dressed now and go into my office to study, then leave to get to where I'm meeting my friend, that'll leave me with about an hour and a half to study. Is it worth it, or do I just continue lounging around, and figure I'll study in the afternoon?
Maidengurl! How are you doing? I've been thinking about you and your family (thanks to posts in "Beep Me"), but I can't remember when I last posted with you.
Hil, will you feel all accomplished that you left to study, and it will prompt you to use the time properly? Or will the guilt for not using that 1.5 hours make your afternoon study even more productive?
I'm feeling the need to explodiate the DMV. Anyone with me??

I think more of the second. And I can use some of this time to do the dishes here, which will at least be accomplishing something.
I'm feeling the need to explodiate the DMV. Anyone with me??
BOOM!
Explodiate is a great word. Explodiate. EXPLODIATE!
Explodiate. EXPLODIATE!
There's a Dalek in my head saying that now. I think I love them even more.
Nilly - it has been a long time since we have posted together. Typically I can't keep up in Natter, but I'm making my annual attempt and look at the reward I get - YOU!
Mom is doing ok. Things are still rough, but they appear to be getting more stable. Tomorrow we meet with the lawyers regarding signing the papers for legal guardianship for C. Oh, and DH is employed once again. I think that is the basics in a nutshell. Do you lj?
I think more of the second.
So it's settled, then, right? And with the dishes, you get even both!
Explodiate
amych, I was just about to say that I'm with you, even though I have no idea what your post meant, based on how this word sounds along (well, and on the fact that it's you, but that goes without saying).
Maidengurl, that's such a nice thing to say! I'm taking a break from grading by taking a peek in Natter. My reward, however, is all of you guys, since I hardly get to post properly anymore.
It's good to read that things are at least on the right track with your mom, and definitely regarding your DH's employment. I hope this direction of improvement will continue! You certainly deserve some balancing-out, now.
Do you lj?
Um, you mean do I have a livejournal account? (I don't. I don't know anything about livejournal other than there is a thing called livejournal.)
Article about a NASA scientist who claims that NASA and the administration are trying keep him from lectuing.

This paragraph is the one that I found the most interesting...
The fight between Dr. Hansen and administration officials echoes other recent disputes. At climate laboratories of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, for example, many scientists who routinely took calls from reporters five years ago can now do so only if the interview is approved by administration officials in Washington, and then only if a public affairs officer is present or on the phone.
Nilly, one of the things I really, really like about Orthodox Judaism is all the specific blessings. I like having lots of ways to say thank you, and saying so routinely in everyday life. (Although I still wonder about the asymmetric "thank you for not making me a woman.")
