Article about a NASA scientist who claims that NASA and the administration are trying keep him from lectuing.

This paragraph is the one that I found the most interesting...

The fight between Dr. Hansen and administration officials echoes other recent disputes. At climate laboratories of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, for example, many scientists who routinely took calls from reporters five years ago can now do so only if the interview is approved by administration officials in Washington, and then only if a public affairs officer is present or on the phone.

If I only had a brain...

Nilly, one of the things I really, really like about Orthodox Judaism is all the specific blessings. I like having lots of ways to say thank you, and saying so routinely in everyday life. (Although I still wonder about the asymmetric "thank you for not making me a woman.")

Also, Alito has been confirmed. Not that it is a surprise or anything.

Explodiate

This word makes me happy. Except that it sounds like it comes from extreme frustration. Need to vent about it, amy?

I went to get a new DL this morning with my new address, but they wouldn't issue one because my license has been suspended in Illinois. WTF? I haven't lived there for 25 years. The only time I'm in Illinois these days is passing through to and from Winfield.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

and then only if a public affairs officer is present or on the phone.

Gosh, does this remind anybody of Soviet Russia or is it just me?

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

Last night, I went to bed early, setting my alarm for 6:30am so I could get to work and be all productive. I actually woke up at 9am, feeling like I'd been hit by an apathy bomb of ickiness. But I was good last night! I should be rewarded! Instead it's like I'm being punished for something I did in a past life!

That's how it struck me.
