I think what my daughter's trying to say is: nyah nyah nyah nyah.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

So, my friend who's family lost their house and all it's contents in a menorah candle fire on xmas, and who was left with a broken leg and serious burns on his right arm? Got mugged and beat up on the way home the other night.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Brenda, you are kidding. That's AWFUL.

That's horrid. May the chinese new year (been reading about it) be a start-over for him & his family.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Brenda, tell your friend to check his back for a sign that says "Universe, kick me." That's...I dunno...whether you look for truth in statistics or gods or both or neither...totally unfair.

My father is better enough to be going to the North Coast this weekend. Which is great. He's told me to not "get belted, but then again, hope you do." It's remarkable sometimes when you're confronted with how related (doesn't even have to be by blood--let's not discount nurture) one is with one's family.

Two loads of laundry going, the floor of my closet tidied, and another load of laundry ready to go in ten minutes. I think I'm excited about the nerve block, and optimistic about being able to take the test.

I hate being optimistic.

hip deep in pie

Brenda, that's so awful.

Totally. Either he's got some serious bad karma (which I resisted saying) or he's got some crazy good karma coming his way.

Did I ever tell y'all the story of the fire and what his mom did?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Jon, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Brenda, that just seems like it should be more than can happen to one person. Did he stomp puppies in November or is this just a horrible run of luck?

(Can't put this in the same post as above.)

OC: I can't tell yet if I like the whole Seth-smoking-pot thing. On the plus side, they do seem to be handling it with relative casualness -- Ryan only sees it as a problem because Seth's hiding it. Unfortunately for Sandy, "Son, don't do drugs -- you might end up a successful lawyer with a beautiful family" isn't exactly the kind of advice teen soaps are supposed to give. (Though a part of me hopes they do go there, because it's pretty much exactly what my dad would have said, were I not the token straight-edge in the family. I know my sibs got some variation on that speech.)

I couldn't watch because of the whole "BIGGEST MISTAKE OF HIS LIFE" thing I've been seeing all weekend. Sounds like it was more reasonable than expected.
